I remember seeing a Nieuport 28 listed not too long ago for about $150.00. I don't remember how fast it sold, but I would think you could probably get a little more for it if you tried as long as it's NIB and complete.

Ahh.
You just inspired me to repair my atleast 20 yr old lovely PT 19.
It is a great airplane, but i crashed it because of aileron servo failure. To my luck, I did not fly with the cowling on. This was at least 20 yrs ago. My first low wing plane. I remember thinking it was a bit fast with an OS 25 FSR. It just needs a nose rebuild. I still have the plans and they provided a separate sheet with the outline of all the parts!!!
Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi PILOT fans!
PILOT semiscale planes (the old ones) are really fantastic; unfortunately it's very very hard to find really complete kits. Look my Cup J-3 from 1983 - still in full operation; after 25 years! First I had an OS FS 40 installed but it was too strong, now it's equiped with an OS FS 20 (collectors) engine. I am looking for Cessna 152 and the Piper Tomahawk. Anyone a kit on sale?

The pilot tomahawk I had, I sold to fund another project, but I did buy it from a hobby people store in cali when I lived there, even though it had an ABS fuse and that printed covering on the wings, the kit still impressed me. Real metal pinned hinges and a hidden cable inside the rudder to work the elevator, a very scale looking outline and good hardware, it was a very nice plane to have. But like I said, I sold it to someone on the BAY, so I'll never know what happened to it, it's probibaly sitting in someones collection gathering dust waiting to fly.

I just came into possesion of a Pilot Tomahawk-20 that was built for static display but had a magnum 28, which I was told by Hobby People personel is a helicopter motor. Can someone tell me what size motor was recommended for this plane, or where to get the plans?

I remember Pilot as a young fellow, I had a ARF glider that I killed on its first flight.:-(
I have a Christen Eagle that I should get to fly in a week or two. I purchased this about a year ago and had done nothing with it until a fellow club member told me to get my s*&t together and get it flying as its a great model.
The Stephens Akro I grabbed at a sale for $10Aust with some damage. Not much to do with this so the its a shared project with my 14 year old son wants this one. He is still flying his sporty forty and this one has got him going :-). Finally he has picked up the glue and wants to know how to use it!! Thanks Pilot
I hate my room sometimes.

I have the PT-19 and Nieuport 28 kits. Upon inspection they seem great kits with nice plan outlines and details. The wood appears top quality. These will be 'keepers'- ones that I'll photocopy the plans and cut new parts to preserve the kit intact. Too bad I never bought more when I had the chance. I was a little worried when Balsa USA went thru their personal trauma. It is a sad day for anyone whose loved one passes away but one individual's passing can impact the lives of so many. I'd say to anyone out there- if there is a kit you like then go ahead and get it now. What if Top Flite or some of the other kit manufacturers ceased production- what would you do?

The tomahawk called for a .25 2 cycle glow, or .40 four cycle. Just go with the engine you have if it runs good. No need to hack up the cowl anymore if possible, does your have brass hinges as well? I know the one I had came with them.

Wow, just found the Pilot thread here and thought I'd post a pic of my plane. It is a Bucker Jungmann, 29.5% scale. I'm running a Brillelli 46 and this plane flies great. My buddy gave me the plane a few years ago. It was built but never flown. I had to recover and paint it. This was the neatest Jungmann scheme I could find. Just didn't like the yellow Swedish colors much. I have the original box, plans, and all left over sheets of die cut parts. Also have the neat little wheel covers. This plane is a real attention getter when it gets flown. Sadly it doesn't get flown much as it takes me about an hour to get all the turnbuckles/wings set and ready for flight. Maybe someday I'll get it to go together a little more smoothly.
Thanks,
Martin

I used to fly a 1/3 PUP, I used 6-32 ball link at the rigging attachment points on the fuse, it was a simple matter of bolting the links to the mounts when rigging, and unbolting them again when done. being nylon they dont lose thier adjustments either when you unrig them. Its just a matter of keeping the bolts safe in the interim, I had a film canister I kept them in with spares and it lived in my radio case.

I just started framing up a Pilot 1/4 scale Decathalon. I agree great kits and I have just located a Pilot Jungmann partially built that has been in the rafters 20 + years that I am trying to buy.

Great looking Jungman, and well worth the time to put together.

Thanks Hardy,
it's a great flying plane. Even at the weight it is (guessing 25 lbs or so). There's one on here in the for sales right now...Looks a little pricey to me, but may tickle someones fancy.

Thanks Martin, I did see that also and I agree to pricey for me also. I have found one out here and am waiting for the guy to give me a price. I think $300 for that would be fair for the one online here, but I really want to start the kit from scratch if possible.

Hi Pilot builders, I have an Aeronca Champ. .15 size that is atleast 40 years old. The kit is partly built and Ihave most of the parts, Ithink. I know Ihave to plastic cowl parts and maybe the window parts. The only problem, I have lost/misplaced the plans and instruction book. I think the plane is worth finishing I just need some help. Several pieces of the ply have seperated due to the age of the glue, I reglued them with CA and they seem to be holding, just not sure if the wood will be strong enough for flight. It may become a ceiling ornament. Thanks for reading.
