I am starting a TF P-40 Gold Edition kit and am wondering if anyone out there has been able to use a gas engine in this model? A Evolution 26GT2 perhaps? Thanks for any input and info.

You might want to measure the available space in the engine compartment before deciding to use a gas engine. I used a magnum .91 four stoke and was pleased with the sound and horsepower.

I've got two TF P-40's. One is still on the building board where it has been for about 2 years! I have a ST .75 in the other one with the in cowl muffler. Stay away from this combo. Mine is ten pounds and is tail heavy with not enough power with this combo. I'm putting a Saito 1.20 in it and from others I've talked to, this is the way to go. I'd say forget the gas engine unless you can find a very light model with a rear carb and exhaust. The corsair or P-47 would be better candidates for the G20ei. What stage of construction are you in? I've not done much to mine lately because joining the wings is so critical and I don't want to mess it up.

Thanks everyone for all your advise. I decided to put a O.S. 1.20 Surpass III in this model, from almost everything I been reading lately a 1.20 seems to be the best way to go.

OS 120 III is surely the best way to go and if you built it light and correctly you will not need any lead weight at all on the nose.
My TF P-40 glassed and painted, with operational flaps and Robart retracts weighted 5 kgs.
However, remember that it is not an every week flying warbird. It's hard aerodynamics combined with it's only 1,6 m wingspan and the problematic Robart rotating retracts will surely will not reward your efforts. The look however is one of a kind. I built mine because my daughter loved it
