Cutting cowl for Pitts Muffler !!!!!!
#1
I've flown my C. G. Sukhoi for over two years without a cowl. Flies great. Then, for some reason, I get this wild idea to put a cowl back on it. The last one (ABS) lasted about 3 flights so I got a Fiberglass Specialties cowl. Now, I've got to figure out how to get the cowl ON with those two big pipes hanging down off of my SuperTigre 2300. It's a Bisson muffler and since the belly pan locks in under the cowl, i'm afraid to slice the bottom of the cowl so I can slip it over. I think that it would allow the front of the belly pan to fly out from under it and the rear of the belly pan wouldn't be far behind. Any suggestions ????? I know that there are some guys who have cowls on their Sukhois, what are THEY doing??? NOT24??? I know you've got a SuperTigre in YOUR Sukhoi.....

I had that same problem with a pitts muffler on my Goldberg Extra..... what I did is cut the pipes short... and then once the cowl is on.... cut an oval so I can put on 2 stiff silicone tubes that I use very small hose clamps up inside to hold them on the pitts muffler exhaust ports
