Our club is having it's first float plane fly in this coming summer and since I've had the 1/5 th Sig cub kit on the shelf i thought this would be a good candidate for my first float plane. I am trying to decide whether to clip the wings or not. i honestly don't think I will ever not fly this plane on floats. I was thinking for the lift I should go with the full scale wings but if i could gain any improved flight characteristics with the clipped wings i would go that route or does it not really matter at all.

Leave it full length IMO. You can still do loops and rolls with full size wings. The extra lift will help carry the weight of the floats.
I personally like a float plane thats got nice light wing loading. As soon as you add a little power, the lift sucks the floats up out of the water and puts you on step very quickly. For me, the longer it stays in the water, the worse things usually get. [
] I want up and out of the water ASAP. No "scale" take-offs for this guy.
