Glad to see you're starting with the mini-sport... Once you start building you will be hooked. I have 3 planes to maiden this spring because of this addiction... a Herr Piper Cherrokee (Brushless conv), a SIG 4 Star 40 (bashed kit), and a Midwest Tri-Squire (vitage kit). All this with the mini-sport in transit, a few kits stacked in the closet, plans, plans and more plans to scratch build, and not to mention ARF's awaiting final assembly.[&:] The more I think about it I am realizing this is more of a sickness than and addiction

Since you have been to the Sig site you are aware of the Smith Mini-Plane.

I will second the stinger 40. The kit is easy to build and the covering will not be that difficult. When you get into compound curves and try to cut out detailed patterns and apply them and keep them straight is not easy for a first timer. Basic block patters and lines with hard surfaces to adhear to are easier. To me it is better to start out with something simple and be sucessful than some thing detailed and be frustrated.

Oh and the one thing you will attain from this process is the pride of the plane is yours. You built it you know it and you are flyihng it and it does not look like all the others. Read study and understand and you will be more sucessful and it will be enjoyable.

Bruce Tharpe Venture 60...hands down the best and easiest kit to build. Bruce has discontinued the kit for now, but might be able to find on e-bay, who knows. While you're building one, you'll see why it's the best kit out there....all the rest of the manufacture's take a back seat to Bruce's kits. Fly's like a dream too.

I got my Herr Mini-Sport kit Yesterday VIA FedEx.... Hardly even 2 days from order to delivery, SIG has impressed me. The kit was well packed and the great quality I already known to expect with SIG and Herr kits. Excellent quality wood and the laser cut parts are literally falling out of the sheets. Start a thread when you start the build, there is not a whole lot on this airplane in the forums. This kit is about 3rd on my list of RC projects right now and it may be a few months before my build.

Good to hear you got yours and you're pleased with it. I ordered mine last Tuesday so I susptect it will arrive early this week.

I know its eary to make too many plans, but if I do like building the mini-sport then I will go with the SSE next.

Ultimately, I'd like to build and fly an Albatros. I will want a nice Albatros kit so I'll have to get some good practise in with these easier kits.

Depending on how things go with the mini-sport I may decide to do a build thread.... you're right, I haven't seen any on here.

I really enjoyed building the SSE. Great in it's stock form but also bashable. All laser cut parts, good instructions... one of my favorite planes.
