Default control surface cross section shape?

I have an old incompleted midwest aerostar 53" wingspan trainer that I'm trying to finish.
I have everything except the control surfaces for the elevator and ailierons. thats as far as I got 20 years ago and these pieces are long lost.
I remember the original elevator was just flat stock. what I bought is tear drop shaped so the trailing edge tapers down to a point.
The lead edge where I will mount the hinge is rounded. Does it make a difference?
Should I just get flat stock/

Thanks

Default RE: control surface cross section shape?

The teardrop shaped material will work just fine, just install the hinges along the centerline...
