Default Converting an RC kit to U-Control

Hello gang, I've got a WWII Royal kit that I want to convert to U-Control. In addition, I want to use electric power. Can anybody offer suggestions and help in these areas? Many thanks to all and best wishes. [email protected]

Default RE: Converting an RC kit to U-Control

I converted the Royal FW-190A to C/L many years ago and flew with an old OS .61. Have also converted Skyshark's Val and Brian Taylor Typhoon. The short version is: "just slap a bellcrank in there." I used the CG as shown on the plans. A little rudder offset won't hurt, and a little right aileron won't hurt. Don't know for sure that they help, but it is fairly common practice. I do make sure that the bellcrank mount is structurally sound and there is a good place to hold for pull tests. Note that C/L models have to deal with the line drag that R/C models don't have, so use the largest recommended engine size. I personally prefer using my JR radio in the direct servo control mode to operate the throttle and other mechanical functions. I would be glad to describe what works for me on any specific questions you have.

I have not converted to electric yet, so can't offer any suggestions there. Batteries in the nose ought to help with balance.

Which kit do you have?
