Default Help me choose!

I'm looking for my next building project. I've enjoyed building my Four Star 60 so much I've decided to build another plane. I love the look of bi-planes but unfortunately I live in the UK so my choices are limited kit wise as everyone here seems to be going ARF. I've narrowed my choices down to either the Carl Goldberg Ultimate or a Sig Hog Bipe. I am not at the point of flying one as yet but that doesn't mean I can't build one, it will be a shelf queen for a while. So I would like one that looks good, I hate the trainer look of the front of the Hog, flys well (that means easy for a first time biper) and reletively easy to build. As I said I've enjoyed the Four Star and had no problems with the build, although that is like a big lego kit. I have made some mods to the four star so I am not scared about a bit of woodworking.

I would appreciate any feedback from builders, owners or flyers of both planes.

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Help me choose!

I have flown the Hog Bipe and its a wonderful sports biplane for relaxed "Sunday flying" with some aerobatics thrown in. The nose section can easily be modified by mounting the engine with the cylinder in the horizontal or 8 o'clock position and adding a balsa/ply cowl.
If aerobatics is your thing you should consider the Ultimate. I have no experience with the Goldberg one, but have built one some years ago from plans by David Boddington. It was an extremely nice aircraft that excelled in all things knife edge.
If I remember correctly the Goldberg Ultimate first appearead as a construction article in RCM many years ago and from what I remember it seemed to be a straightforward build with a sligtly lighter structure than the 'Boddo' Ultimate.

Edit: I noticed you live in the U.K. Have you considered the [link=http://www.chrisfoss.co.uk/Wots-wot.htm]Chriss Foss Wots-Wot[/link]? It should be a straightforward build and from what I have seen (I have not flown it myself) it flies very nicely.
