Growing up my dream aircraft was the Byron Originals 1/4 scale P51D with the geared Quadra. It was way beyond my wildest dreams costwise. Now that I afford it,I see that it is out of production. Can anyone who owned one tell me if it was as good as I fantasised. Be gentle! Don't tell my dream girl was in reality a 300 pound cigar smoking, army boot wearing hair in curlers horror!!!

When I was in Milwaukee last year, I saw one on the shelf at an old time Hobby stored called "Happy Hobbies". Quite a few older kits there I wished I had picked up also. I believe they had the gear reduction drive also.

I have been around alot of byron kits, and alot of people still love them.. The four bladed drive setup was always a bit restrictive on power with the original setup and VERY draggy if the motor died. I have friends that said they had seen planes nearly stop when those four big blades quit pulling ...

I purchased a Byron 51 a few months ago on E-bay. I am building it now and have posted a build thread if you would like to take a look.

There are a few guys posting on the thread that have the same aircraft and just love them. I know I do.
