Anyone know where I can find a Cap 21 kit, ARF or decent plans for a 1/4 scale Cap 21?( Wingspan about 60-72 inches)

I thought I saw an old Great Planes Cap-21 kit once that is no longer in production (they have the Cap-232 now). You might look in the RCU classifieds or on eBay.

Skip,
Good Luck I got one of the old Zimpro fiberglass and sheet foam wing 94" 50cc Cap 21 QS thats older than dirt. 1988 I think.
There are no ARF Cap 21's out there, Hgr 9 and Wild Hare had the only Cap232 that was worth while in an ARF.

Great Planes 90 size Cap 21 is good , the old Bridi f'iberglass Cap21 that Great Planes bought and sold to Kitty Hawk aviation are good.
I sold my Cap 20L that was fiberglass and foam, 81" WS G-38 power , too much building for my taste, I thought I wanted to sheet wings
but thought better of it.

Good Luck.

Iron Bay took over the Byron's line. Looks like they have the 80" CAP 21, but it is out of stock right now. Here's a picture of mine to get you drooling. I have a 45cc Homelite on mine.

Yep, you got it. I sheeted the foam with balsa, and finished it with Monokote. AUW 18 pounds. Lots of power, and the plane still scares me a bit. I keep the speed up, because this plane has a reputation for tip stalling.

LOL everybody does that to them. Makes em a little heavy but the fly and last longer. I remember we had two guys that had a pair of the old Bryon Originals (I wish i had one) and they tore the living heck out of them landing them.

Its also unique that your plane (The Byron Originals Cap-21) at around 1978 -1980 with a Quadra 35 was the TOP AEROBATIC set up in the Nation !! Hows that for amazing facts. Your Homelite would be the equivlant to a 3w-212 today !!

Either the sport has come a long way or I am really old !!

LOL

CAP 21 aircraft are scarce these days. Pleas check out the [link=http://www.toni-clark.com/english/frames_e/cap_frm.htm]Toni Clark CAP 21[/link]
It's quite expensive, but IMHO kits doesn't get much better than this one.

Red,
I have corresponded with Toni Clark over this Cap and its a box of lumber. You need a saw mill, a large barn and two undocumented workers to put that one together, but it does come out nicer than all the other Caps. It builds like a Great Planes .60 size Cap on steroids. I think the Zimpro I have is as close to ARF as you can get. Dont think Dennis will ever bring these over again.
He laughed when I asked him for a cowling a few years ago and said he didnt think anyone had one of these planes around.
But you are right Toni Clark is the last of the Cap 21 kits you can buy on the open market and its complete when TC says its got everything in the box he means it.

Skip,
Sent you a PM. I have one of the old Byron planes partially built if you're interested.
