I like this thread!

Hi. My name is EJ, and I’m a kit and plans hoarder. I keep adding kits to my collection because I’m intrigued by each and every one of them. I never really thought much about how many I have, so in the interest of staring this number square in the face, I’ve compiled a list.

So, here it is. I have fifty-three (53) kits. More than I’ll probably ever build, definitely more than I will ever be able to house. I’ll make a serious dent in the stash, and will sell some of them as I complete them. Guess that will make me a ARF manufacturer.

Glow/Gas/Electric:

Balsa USA -

Piper L-4 (1.4-scale)

Smoothie

Bridi -

Corbin Baby Ace (1/3-scale)

T-6 (.60 power, fiberglass fuse, foam wing)

Bud Nosen

Citabria (1/4-scale, Nosen kit)

Citabria (1/4-scale, AA Industries kit)

Carl Goldberg -

Falcon 56 (1970s vintage)

Piper J-3 Cub (Anniversary Edition)

Concept Models -

1920 Fleet Biplane (1/4-scale)

Direct Connection -

F-20 Tiger Shark (.40 powered)

Great Planes -

Extra 300S

F-4 Phantom II

Giant Aeromaster

Piper J-3 Cub (.40 powered)

Super Skybolt

House of Balsa

T-6 (.15-.20 powered)

T-6 (electric powered)

Ikon N’wst -

Monocoupe 90A (1/4-scale)

Piper PA-18 Super Cub (1/4-scale)

Lanier -

Giles 202 (2-kits, 17.5%-scale, .40 powered)

Midwest

Super Stearman

Pica -

T-28 (2-kits, .60 powered)

Royal -

Cessna 182 (Junior Series)

Sig -

Kadet Senior

Liberty Sport

Piper Clipped wing J-3 Cub (1/4-scale)

Piper Clipped wing J-3 Cub (1/6-scale)

Ryan STA

Space Walker II (1/4-scale)

Steen Skybolt (2-kits)

Top Flite -

Cessna 182 (giant scale)

DC-3 (giant scale)

P-51D (giant scale)

T-34B (giant scale)

Short kits:

Hostetler Plans -

Steen Skybolt 1/4-scale

Super Decathlon 30%

Richards Plans -

Globe Swift (1/4-scale)

Ziroli Plans -

P-47 Thunderbolt

Eureka Aircraft Co. -

Curare pattern ship (.60 powered)

Gliders:

Airtronics -

Avante

Eclpise (electric motorized Olympic 650)

Olympic 650

Olympic II

Dream Catcher -

Aquila XL

Great Planes -

Spirit

Spirit 100

Spirit Elite

Sig -

Ninja

On The Bench (not complete):

Dave Platt -

Waco YMF-3 (Dave Platt kit - not Pica)

Sig -

Citabria

Komet

Need another thread to cover plans. I have maybe the same number of plans that I have kits.

Hi. My name is EJ, and I’m a kit and plans hoarder. I have fifty-three kits. As of now...

Default RE: How many kits do you have right now?

A few years ago as I was contemplating the massive fleet of Arfs and stick builds, completed and unfinished, in my garage, shop, attic, crawl space, and covered truck bed...I decided to figure my CRASH RATE.   In my worst year since 1990, I re-kitted 6 planes, but the average came out to being about 1.75.  This reduction is thanks to Real Flight and more actual skill.   Astonishing discovery at how long I was going to have to live to enjoy them all.  So I started selling  airplanes about six years ago.  Dozens of airplanes.  Some of you have had some dandy airplanes and prices from me...some will yet have more of same.  It's overwhelming how easy it is to get too much "lotsa" money tied up in colorful candy airplanes and flying dreams.   I never paid anything but cash, so my wife still thinks it's about five grand.  Every time my favorite hobby store in Denver saw me come in they started singing, "Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus... .  I only hope when I die, in congruence with my CRASH RATE, that my children can figure out what goes with what's left,...but  then, they'll be really old when that happens.

Scrubmonkey hang with your engineering ambition. There are times the schooling is a bit of a trial and sometimes there's a lot of schedule pressure to get stuff done but I found it a cool profession and got to travel all over the world. There's still good money to be made.

Zor, Probably closer to George Carlin inphilosophythanBertrandRussell.

Airplanes400 - good tag line (Men in Black) and re your last post you're probably right.

At least it's a lively topic - Regards, Cliffc
cliffc,

You being the last one, you are at the bottom of the list but George Carlin would never qualify.

You ought to read the book "The Cosmic Deity" where Scientists and Theologians Fear to Tread. Written by Robert G. Neuhauser who is a personal friend.
Bob (Robert) and I flew together in his Piper Tripacer. He is the second on my list of philosophers.
A super guy who was in charge of the group developping the image orthicon that made TV possible.

Enjoy the hobby cliffc and keep your head up.

One kit under the bench (Dirty Birdie),
The following are in flying condition:
Sequence (F3A) electric,
Black Magic converted to electric,
Viper (2 meter-YS 140FZ),
Tiporare, OS FX 61,
Escape, YS 60,
Own design, electric, 61 size airplane.

Do ot have any more room to house airplanes. Therefore, I have to wait until the date comes for each airplane.

I was up to about 80, then realized the next 5 planes I wanted to build were all going to be scratch design/builds that would take well over each to build, so I sold about 60 of them. I'm down to around 20 that I can't part with, at least for now. Some classic scale kits like the big Pica Waco, Sig Ryan, Sig Liberty Sport, Sig Zlin, Sig Yak 18, Royal Stearman and P-6 Hawk. Some great flying aerobatic planes like a Goldberg Extra and Miles Reed Super Solution, and finally my backup Whirleybird Aviation PCA-2 Autogiro. If Joe is still selling these I recommend picking one up before it's too late!

Joedoan,  What makes the Bucker and the Aeromaster hanger queens?  I only ask because I've got a Pica Bucker and an Aeromaster.  These look like they have reliable engines.  I am not questioning your decision just looking for a tip.

Regards Cliffc

Nice collection

Guess what I found (hiding under one of beds in our house)???? A Dog House Extreme KIT....I knew I had one, just didn't know where I 'hid' it.....and that was 10 years ago! Boy was the box top dirty....me thinks of making a lot of scrap wood into a 'new' kit so I can have a back up 'just in case'....
