Default Red Box P51

Just thought I would show my Red Box P51. I am building it from a kit I aquired from EBay. The kit was made in 1969 and sat in its box for 38 years before I started it. It has CJ retracts, inverted MVVS 77 engine with McDaniels glow, flaps, and a fiberglass cowl and scoop. I am using the original bellcrank setup for the flaps and ailerons and am covering it in monokote to keep the weight down. Her are some pictures on my progress so far.

Hi,

Can you check this link and tell me if I have the same kit. I tried to send you a PM, but it did not appear in my send mail.

Thanks

Hi Rcpropsnapper,

Looks like you have a good start on you Redbox 51. I was around when these kits first came out and one of the problems people were having was aileron flutter. You may wish to change out the bellcranks and install servos directly to the ailerons. If you decide to stay with the bellcranks then I would recommend built up ailerons or at least balanced ailerons.

Good luck with you 51
