Default Adding strength to ABS cowls

I just learned some thing new. I am just finishing up a GP RV-4. Joining the pants and cowl are a real treat. While getting ready to add fiberglass cloth and reinforce the joints and high stress areas someone mentioned that I might want to try ABS pipe cement. I thought this would just melt the cowl, but it works great! Can not use to much cement or you will end up with ABS past, but just a little will do a very nice and easy job. I used the lightest cloth I could find, placed the cloth on the seam and used the brush in the glue can to lightly spread glue over the cloth and attach the cloth to the ABS cowl. The thinner the ABS then the less cement ya need to use. Looks like it bonds much better than epoxy and is a whole bunch cheaper!. If you decide to try this then make sure you test first!!!

Cool idea....have to put that one back in the rear compartment of the 'gray matter' so I don't forget it... :-)
