A couple new pics. Fitting the wing to the slightly changed wing saddle..Moved wing ahead a tiny bit, wing corrections and finishing moving forward. Getting ready to build some wing struts also.

I might have missed this in the discussion, but what landing gear are you using?

I took a set of gear from a buddies GP pt-17, They had split a little so he replaced them, I just epoxied the outer covering back onto the aluminum strut.    I cut them in half at the center of the aluminum cross bar....and screwed them into plywood landing gear block I installed, they look pretty good on there I think.

Instead of a Mr Mulligan, I think you have come up with a MISSMULLLIGAN. Looks kinda cool. Quite creative of you.

It does look good, what are you using for the tail wheel?

haven't ordered it yet, but probably one of the bigger ohio products tailwheels.

I told my buddy from some angles the thing looks like his dang CANTZ italian (CRASH) bomber !!!  He just laughed ...

I think I am going to make some dummy exhausts pipes for the sides of the cowl, that way it will hide some of the flatness of the fuselage.

I am slowly working on it and about four other things, I get bad at that..been covering the tail. I hop around so as not to get burn't out.

PLEASE get pics and possibly video of your plane. I would love to see it. ! And thanks for taking the time to read the thread and ask about the project...Its slowly moving forward.

Well I stumbled back onto the Nosen trainer after a few other side projects..I went ahead and started the bomb drop/parachuter hatch. Thanks to a thread over on Bruce Tharpe http://www.btemodels.com/sfk_candydrop.html .,... I got something similar built.

I built a location in the bottom of the trainer, then a separate unit to drop in (LOOKS LIKE AN OUTHOUSE)
No control rods or cables yet but its getting closer !

I glued on the plywood for the tail wheel mount, and the rear hatch built, I might need to mount the radio and battery in the tail to offset the large motor and long nose of the plane. A little dent filling here and there along the way. I should be working more on the wing finish, but I haven't got to it as of yet.

Well the nose is a little more rounded, more flaws sanded away....and I have some paint on the bomb/parachuter drop box. I don't recall if I had the servo mounted and control rods on last time either? I will have to review my own thread!

ALL COVERED FINALLY!

I am going to do a pt17 kind of scheme, its just a matter of drawing it out, and starting to work on it. My goodness the wing is huge ...Its covered with I believe is called ceconite, http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...nitefabric.php

It will be hand painted with acrylic hobby paints, then clear coated.

I am still painting, but I decided to get the tail glued on before painting it, I am also working on the tail bracing wires. I have the top ones soldered up, Now on to the bottom!

How about a little wing action? mostly painted with a foam brush. The roundel edges were done with a nice brush that holds a clean line. I am not really trying for a perfect opaque paint job as I like my planes looking well worn..and I will be weathering and highlighting detail for fun and effect !

I've been pushing hard on the weathering and detail on the finish, some brushed highlights shadows, airbrushing , even a little chalk work and panel line action. I really like it when planes look like they have been worked hard. It also gives a nice (stand ten foot back) scale finish as well. hopefully if things go well I could be clearing it tonight also. I am just going to use 4 dollar cans of rustoleaum clear. this baby will be poulan gas powered..so the glow fuel is not an issue. its coming along nice though...Hopefully I will get to a point to take some pics tonight or tomorrow.

heres my D7 from a couple years ago..my last paint project.

I have really tried to hide the dead flat surfaces with a few panel lines and airbrush,chalking..I think it looks much better than a smooth flawless color..But thats just me.

You have inspired me to get my Nosen trainier out of the basement, make the needed repairs and get her back in the air.
Not sure what engne I will use... the old .60 just didn't do it.
