Was looking at your cowl and it’s looks more blunt (thicker) compared to mine did I sand off to much wood and weaken the cowl?

Your cowl is cleaner and more slick which helps with speed.

RE: G.P Super Sportster 40 dual build
I have only done the rough shaping of the cowl. It is nowhere close to being done yet. Plenty of sanding and shaping yet to do. I am not really looking for slick and speed, I am looking for something neat and smooth.
Here are some photos of where I am at.
1: Cowl ring sanded and tapered to blend with spinner back plate
2: Muffler cutout
3: Muffler installed
4: Needle valve cutout
5, 6: engine mounted
7: Test fitting spinner
8: Nose gear exit hole cut and filled. I need a big opening to provide the extra space I need for the coil to partially stick out.

Looks cool wzak. I did more shaping to the cowl. Coming along. How big of an exit for the nosegear (bottom of cowl) are you doing? I had to do one about 1" square because part of the coil is going to be sticking out. Let me know where you're at. I am ready to start the top of fuselage/cowl now when you are.
Had to bury a dog of my mothers today but I should have some time later to do some work on it.

Sorry about the dog, Right now I only have a ¼” hole in the bottom for the landing gear I will wait for photos from you so see how big it needs to be. I need to install the fuel tank will not take long then I can start on the top, want to see some photos from you first.

Installed fuel tank, added forward sides glued with CA needed to wet wood and let sit with rubber bands to pull a curve in the sides.

Photo 1: Top of deck sheeting sanded flush with former tops.
Photo 2: One end of deck top block beveled for instrument panel to be installed later. Had to add scrap sheeting to both sides at deck end to match deck width.
Photo 3: Front of deck top block cut to shape.
Photo 4: Fuel-proofed the underside of the deck top block over the tank area before glueing in place.
Photo 5: Deck top block glued in place with Elmer's Glue-All.

(1) sanded top of forward sheeting flat
(2) fuel proof engine compartment with epoxy
(3) cut hole in bottom for landing gear coil
(4) installed engine mount easier to do this now than after adding the top sheeting
(5, 6) top sheeting glued with wood glue

I didn't bother with the instrument panel decal as I am painting the canopy. I am shaping the top deck now and will be doing more shaping and sanding on the cowl but I will post more soon. I did glue the instrument panel on for the soul purpose of shaping the deck.

Alot of shaping to do on that top deck, it has to follow the shape of the instrument panel. Hope the deck siding sheets aren't too thin for the shaping, I am a bit worried about that.

Shaping went alot faster than I thought with a wood file . . .
Photo 1, 2, 3: Filing the top deck
Photo 4, 5, 6: Deck filed, ready for sanding
Photo 7: Saving wood shavings for filling and repairs

Don’t want to keep remounting the engine to easy to strip the screws but looking and checking the cowl ring I don’t see any angle or remember any, I looked the engine mounting over very good.
Did not have a file so it was a lot of work sanding the top, photos.
