Hello, I did not build my friends Elder 40, but i did the maiden flight with a saito .54 on board, and let me tell you is a beautiful plane, very slow, and predictable, it flies on a scale manner, even with its tail dragger form, is a piece of cake to take off and land, i fell in love on that plane, soon I will build mine.

Best luck!

I have one that I'd guess is 90% complete. Just can't find the motivation to finish the wing wire rigging. I have a Saito 56 mounted.

The kit gets even more pricey if you add the pilot, machine gun and TopFlite wire wheels. I decided it would be worth it but then again I'm way beyond the age where you usually have two or three kids to support.

The cowling area was a little difficult (sheeting complex curves) as well as covering to wing tips.

Very nice looking plane though. Glad to hear it flies so well.

Regards
