Default Please help identify this plane

I got this plane from a great older man that stoped flying many years ago. I am hoping that he will know more information when I go back to his house to look for the wing struts and cowling. It has a wing span of about 87" and length of about 60", it looks like it was a kit and it has flaps built in. I am looking for engine recomendations, and general flying tendencies, etc.

Thanks

Looks like an L-2 Bird Dog

With that wingspan, I'd say about a 90ish 4-stroke

Def looks like a L-19 Bird Dog. The L-2 was a Taylorcraft. The L-19 was made by Cessna

Well shoot, I can't find a cowling for the plane, nor any more information about the kit, I have not had much luck searching who might have kitted this plane, on goes the search for a cowling and wing struts (I might build wing struts). Any ideas on where I could get a cowling for this plane?

Thanks

Vailly Aviation has a 1/5 scale, 86.5" span L-19. Could be that one but, if not, the cowl still may be workable.

looks to be thew same as the Maratuka L-19 I used to have. It will fly nicely with a .70-.90 4c motor. it will fly much the same as a cub, with similar ground handlling, that is scale like take offs work best. Once flying will do nice gentle aerobatics or putt putt around very nicely. I used to get 30-40 min flights easily with a 16oz tank and an old OS 4c

Try Aerofibertec or Stans www.aerofibertech.com/index.html

Fiberglass Specialties www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com/

IF not listed drop them and email and ask. They have alot of plugs that are not listed and can make the cowl for you.

It definitely is a Maratuka 88" O1E "Bird Dog" which I am building from plans bought from Ebay..recognized by the engine mount and the cockpit section.
