Default Which control rods do you use?

Guys,

I am starting my 4*40 build and am not too impressed with the supplied pushrods. Every plane that I have built in a long time, I put the elevator and rudder servos in the tail. This time I may go ahead and use pushrods. I have thought about ordering some Sullivan Gold N Rod but have heard that they change length with temp. So what do you guys recommend? What do you like? Thanks.

With great success I'm using Sullivan Composite Flex Rod 2-56 and never trim at the beginning of the flight day again, one of 48" cut into two pieces will do

or two of the same

I'm planning to use composite for the elevator pushrod, and a pull-pull system for the rudder. This is my second four*, but first from kit

Use good ol' dowell rods. Put a 'z' bend on servo end and an adjustable clevis on the other. Cheap and efficient! I have used dowell rods for very long runs by breaking it up into sections via a 'walking beam' arrangement if I can't use pull-pull cables. I have used carbon arrowshafts for big airplanes and I put elevator horn upright so the servo pulls elevator to up position instead of pushing (think flexing). We fly upright most of the time. I always use pull-pull on rudder, if possible- weighs nothing.

I used Sullivan Gold n Rods on my 4*40 and like them very much.

I like Great Planes solid wire pushrods. These are 36" and other lengths are available.

The equivalent from Dubro also work well.
