unfortunately the prices are more than some arf's

They are quality kits cut here in the USA with quality balsa!!! I have the hellcat, and avenger on the shelf and the balsa ,instructions and over all kit quality's are unmatched, last goooood quality kit i built was the Goldberg 300 and yet they fell too , yes they are a lil up there in price for a kit but think of the overhead to produce 1 quality kit by order than a mass produced mess made by 12 yr olds[X(] and thats with any mom and pops store small but you get good quality product just like the wingspan models b-17 thats on my to do list but got to save up ! i know im not the only one who has a RC fund and now that im married that an RC fund and 1 thing added to the honey due list hahaaha but got that one down so back to building will post some progress here in a few

luv the skeleton , adds a nice touch. you mite want to add a hatch so you can get that air tank out, if you need to.

Well been picking away at some lil stuff that i have already done gone back from the start to make sure everything is in line. I have done the rough sheeting on the center section of the wing and 95% of fuse is sheeted (going to make a hatch to be able to switch air tank if needed) the major change i have decided to do is go with the Golden Rod bell crank system verse individual servos it would i think just be to bulky and unneeded weight for the room in the outer wing panels along with the flap servos. getting ready to sheet the wing and make access panels for the flap servos here is some pic of the progress..... couldn't help myself to put everything in a rough draft assembly to see how she is looking

very nice build. the SBD-dauntless is my favorite airplane. I bought the dauntless, hellcat and avenger kit way back when skyshark was named heritage. The dauntless was one of the first r/c builds I done. I wasn't that good on building. It was tail heavy and I couldn't get the ailerons to work enough to bank the aircraft. It crashed and was a complete wreck. The avenger was build for me by an experience builder and it flies excellent. After several years I decided to start the hellcat, it is going very slow. I also bought another dauntless kit from skyshark and is still in the box. I will probably buy another dauntless kit soon to help support skyshark. they are very nice people. I will be watching your build, so far it is great and will be a big help when I start my dauntless.Yours will definitley be finished before mine. I will be curious to see how your ailerons perform. Also do you think the electric retracts from eflie will work in the dauntless?

Great build, I will be following since I have a skyshark Dauntless still in the box and hope to start in the near future. I have the skyshark avenger, flies great and the Hellcat which is being build but it is going very slowly. Skyshark makes excellent kits. I am tired of some of these chineese ARF's that are poor quality. I will buy another skyshark Dauntless soon to help support them. I also am sick of listening to guys that like to build, complain when places like skyshark stopped making kits. Then when kits are being produced again they complain that they are to expensive!!!!!!! come on you tight wads open up your wallets and support a great USA company like skyshark. I AM. buy the kits and enjoy what you like to do and that is build.

I think I answered my question pertaining to the aileron performance on the dauntless using the bellcrank and single servo. On the skyshark site they have a wing servo, the hitec hs 125mg that is only .4 inches high. this should allow me to put one in each wing of the dauntless for the ailerons.

No I'm leaving them in due to fat finger breaking syndrome! I'm doing a few add ons in the wing and don't want to keep gluing the ribs back together! They will all come out just before bottom sheeting is started..

That wouldn't be a bad idea as I was going to have 4 to 5 servo setup but decided to use the bellcrank system. Because of the flap servos and othet add on surprise I did a lil modification to the linkages close to the crank widened the hole and length of travel room for the clevis. But I'm going to do a dry run on that and the top secret to make sure of proper throws. ..
But as far as your retract question I'm not familiar with the electric ones but I'm sure they would work I have the pneumatic robarts. I'm sure mechanical ones would not work due to thr servo and linkages ... and last but not least I also have the TBM and Hellcat. This would be my second Hellcat first one wad damaged beyond repair when o transferred in the service. I'm thinking on getting another TBM have a lil squadron ! Nothing else we should do a group build for it and see if we can get a few others onboard to support them!

Any other questions on the build so far feel free to ask or pm me if ur not clear on anything! !
