So, I am in Perry Georgia this weekend at the big swap meet and I found a few kits that I liked. If it was you which one of these kits would you be first to pick up?
Sterling pt-17 steerman (I think the .45 to .50 ish size)
Pica Waco (I believe 1/6th scale .50 to .65 ish size)
Royal Beechcraft staggerwing
all are old but never been open kits and I looked through all of them. they all seemed to be fairly great shape. So which one should I really try to get if any?

I am unsure of the reputation of the other two planes..But I believe the waco you mention is a good flying machine..At least my buddy loves his, and his is one that he rebuilt...so it may actually be heavier than the first life of the plane !

David,
First off, I wouldn't waste any time thinking about which kit to build.
I'd grab all three kits, bring them home and hide them from other model intruders.
You have three great kits there!
I built two of them.
Sure, the Waco is a much better looking airplane and would be the first choice. That one is probably the 1/7 scale model. The other Waco offered by Pica was at 1/5 scale. I built and still have the 1/7 scale Waco.
The Stearman is a fine model but certainly falls short in appearance compared to the Waco.
The Beech can be hidden for a while. Still a great looking and popular model.
Here's my Waco as it looks today.

Trust me if I had the money I would have shelled it out in a heartbeat for all 3 kits. I actually ended up not buy the smaller wacco (*1/7 scale) because today I found another guy selling the 1/5 scale pica waco ymf kit new and untouched. The 1/5 scale only cost me $25 dollars more than the 1/7 would have but as a side benifit he also through in an aftermarket fiberglass cowling with the blisters allready molded in, and a set of wheel pants which look pretty nice. All in all I think im very happy with the choice I made.

Congrats on your new baby! Now would be a good time to make your way down to the VINTAGE & GOLDEN ERA forum here on RCU and scope out the Pica Waco YMF thread, all 400+ pages of it. Great group of guys and very knowledgable about all things Waco. Cheers
