Default Looking for an in wing aileron servo cover.

I’m looking for a link I saw here to a website.
The servo cover is cut from plywood, there are brackets for the servo and you attach a servo to it and attach the whole assembly into a rib bay.
It’s ready to use and saves you the effort of manufacturing two of them yourself.
There is somebody who makes it and sells it, I’ve seen the link here In RCU but didn’t save it.

Thanks
Alex

You are probably not going to find a ready made set to match your plane, so you are gong to have to fit them to the rib spacing. Might as well make them yourself. All you need is a couple pieces of 1/16" aircraft ply, wide enoght to span between two ribs, and long enough to mount a servo on. Some 1/4" poplar or other harder than balas wood to frame things out, and some 3/8" x 3/4" or close sized maple for the servo lugs.

The 1/4" squre stock is what you will frame in the mount with. Mount the two along the ribs about 1/16" below the rib to allow for the servo plate to fit. Cut the 1/16" ply to fit between the rib and rails, then mark of the slot for the servo arm to go through. This is the tricky part as you have to allow for full movement of the sevro arm. Once you have found the length of the slot you need and the position side to side, it will vary with the arm you use, then all you have to do is cut the two lugs from the maple and epoxy them to the 1/16" sheet in the right place. Once the epoxy sets, drill and set the servos. Make sure the plate fits the rails you glued to the ribs and that you have full travle of the arm without binding. Six little #2 sheet metal screws through the 1/16" ply into the rails and you are done.

the photos may be mixed in sequence, they are taken from the bones of a crashed plane I used this setup in.

Post or PMany questions you have

Thanks B wings, I was thinking about something like the one in the picture but the one you showed will do the trick.

The sig 4 star 60 I just got done builing uses this set up.

I'd just make your own outta 1/16 ply and some 1/4 x 1/2 hardwood...bass, birch...whatever.

Just make sure you don't split anything drilling or forcing screws into the blocks, or the rib bay

I saw what you remember too. I think it was somebody that kits 3 or 4 planes. I got the impression he did it as a sideline. I'll keep looking.

Yes templedude something like it,
Its something really simple that saves some work on small plywood pieces, as I remember it was like in the picture.
Its not that important, those that B wings showed are good enough.

That link was taken right out of high flight and it was for RC airplane pre made hatches, they even have the photos of them in the magazine. I will have to scan it for you tomorrow so you can see the add. I never bothered to look at it??? I'm sure the RC stuff is in there someplace.
