hey ill probable go with futaba 3304 for the gas and choke did you read the insturtions on the choke section that you have to remove the spring ?

hi just found this on there web page do you think we should lamanate a 1/8 plywood to the front for the diffenerts from 2 or 4 stroke to gas and i contacted jtecrc about a pitt style muffler just send them the size from nose to firewall they have two sizes waiting to here from them ill post it when i get it thanks rye

Installing the DLE-20 on Your Airplane
Note: The DLE-20 must be installed on at least a 6mm [1/4”] firewall.
The fi rewall must be securely glued to the airplane. Use triangle
stock and pin the firewall with hardwood dowels to reinforce the
fi rewall glue joints. Never install the DLE-20 onto a fi rewall thinner
than specifi ed because it may fail due to the power of the engine.
1. Select an engine mount. A two-piece engine mount that does not
interconnect or overlap at the fi rewall is preferred for the DLE-20, like
the Dubro Vibration Reducing Engine Mount 1.20-1.80 (DUBG1307).
2. Before securing the engine mount to the fi rewall, test fi t the engine
onto the mount and place the mount onto the fi rewall. Use this
positioning to create an engine mounting template. Use the template
to drill the mounting holes in the locations on the fi rewall. Note: A
Template for mounting the DUBG1307 is provided on the back of
this manual. Press the blind nuts into the rear of the fi rewall. If you
choose to use regular nuts or lock nuts be sure to place washers

It seems to me that the compact one should definitely work simply because of the smaller diameter. Let me know what they say.
The diameter of the firewall is already the minimum recommended 1/4". Not sure if I'lllaminate it further, BUT I WILL add the hardword triangle stock and dowels.

Need your advice on something. Myright wing panel is 2 ounces heavier than the left. This is because a few sheets of balsa I used for the sheeting was a bit denser and heavierthen what came with the kit. So the question is should I add some weight to the lighter side to balance it?

well i got back a e-mail from the muffler guy and he said to mount the motor and then measre what is left behing the motor so i just order my motor build the body but not gule the firewall in so i can get the hole right and we will see when i mount it no big rush as for the wings maybe atfer mounting every thing she will balance out but if you dont want to do that i would use the lead weights and put it in the begining of the wing close to center and the center section so its about center of the plane thanks rye now i know what i forgot when to home dept to get

I got the wing pretty much done (finally). Still have to put the wing tips on though. Carving and rounding the leading edge sucked! No looking forward to the wing tips. :)
Gonna be busy all weekend so I won't get a chance to work on it until next week. </span></p>

I'm sorry about your dog. Your post about losing your lunch buddy make me almost choke up a bit. I know how close my wife and I keep our dog in our hearts and couldnt imgaine a day without him causing some sort of problem. I eat spend my lunch breaks at home with him too.

atfer putting the motor -DLE-20 on the plans it looks like we are going to have to move the firewall back about 1/4 back ? i am going to my freinds house to look this over hes good at these's things a machinies very A N O about these measurements i dont think it will change the way it fly's but we will see ,ill let you know later what he comes up with but the lets holes in the firewall the stronger it will be ,rye

well after a lot of talking we came up this we moved the firewall back 1/4 and added a hollow 1/4 frame to the front so in all we just move the motor mount back 1/4 it was close i think the choke would be to close to the firewall , to tight for me anyways my freind was not for it because we change the motor space but as i said this plane is made for a 2 or 4 stroke not gas and we are changing it to gas so some changes are going to have to be made [X(] ,we will see when it flys [X(][:@]:D rye

I got my kit last thursday and started framing the left wing on Sunday. Unfortunately, I was shorted the leading edge stock. Put in a call today and it's on its way.

I'm back after several days of no building. Now I'm trying to join the wing panels to the center section. I need you to take a look at page 15, step 3 in the manual. It's the section directly beneath photo 50. Did you reallyblock up the ends of the wing only 0.5"? In order for myW2 ribs to be flush on both sides of the dihedral joint I had to block it up about 1".I double checked both wings with the dihedral gauge and I made sure the outer ribs of the center section are square. So if it's actually 0.5", then I have a problem. There is a fair amount of gap on the top of the wing at the mating ribs.</span>

i heard that they change the degree of down and right angles and maybe other things ,i shot off a e-mail to them to find out as for the wing i cant join them together right now but ill let you know 85 degree is not very much of 90 degree ,i been working on the body hear and there going to take a break got to get my sons trainer back in shape we loss radio signal from a futaba 2.4 6 channel had to send it back to them a bad cp board the plane went down in high grass a little damage [:@] but easy fix getting the radio back on friday sat flying day ,hears the work so far on the body see u later ,rye



ps if u have to make a new rib for each side and glue it on the wing roots and reshape them i an going to fit them to the center section at 85% i am going to block up the tips so the root is at 85% to the 90% center section [X(] we well see if that works?

Hey Rye,
I did a little sanding/shaping and looks like the gap has lessened. I still have the tips blocked up 0.5". I'll go at it slowly until I can get the dihedral joints flush. I still need to attach those damn wing tips. I'll do that before I glue the wings together since it will be easier to carve and sand. I still haven't opened the engine yet. Just haven't had a lot of time lately. But I will get the fuse and/or the tail started this weekend. Let me know what you hear back from B-USA.
