RE: adding wing tubes?
I'd go with 3 wing sections due to the dihedral. The Bruce Tharpe Super Flyin King http://www.btemodels.com/sfk.html uses 3 sections. His joiners are metal bars rather than tubes. Check the pictures on the page, and possibly call him for ideas. When I was considering his Delta Vortex kit I called him with a few questions and he was very helpful.

Funny you should ask. I just completed a Goldberg Sukhoi and added a wing tube. It came out great. I put in slight dihedral. My goal was to have the top of the wing perfectly flat, and all the taper of the wing on the bottom. To do that, when I cut the wing tube holes in the ribs, I maintained a constant distance from the top spar. It wasn't that difficult to do. The sukhoi has a similar wing span (72.5"). I purchased a 3/4" x 30" carbon tube from TNT, that worked perfectly. See the pics, they expain it better than I can.

RE: adding wing tubes?
You really don't need a wing tube, a short joiner system and making the wing struts functional is all you need to do

how would i make the struts functional ?

RE: adding wing tubes?
There are a number of ways I'm sure, do some research on the Balsa USA Cubs, or Hanger 9,, they have functional struts.
Basically you replace the lightweight wood with either Aluminum aero-stream tubing or shaped hardwood and engineer some bolt-on attach points. take a look at the hanger9 Cub manual, starting around page 36 http://www.hangar-9.com/ProdInfo/Fil...nual-LoRes.pdf good luck |
