RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Hello
Does any one perhaps have the Stagger Bee in PDF format ? My Email is [email protected] Thanks in advance Wollie |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Well hello all, it's been a while since I been through this thread. Hopefully here in the soon to near future I'll be able to post a few pic's of the Lazy Bee's I am going to build, now that since it is winter time again here in the North country there isn't anything better to do than keeping yourself busy in the hobby room. I am planning on building 2 with 40"WS for my two sons and a 48"WS for myself. I'll keep you updated once I commence the build of the BEE's.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
I am currently working (slowly) on a 40" version. I got the wing completed, covered and now I am working on putting the triangle braces in the fuse. It is very monotonous (sp?). I get to work on it for 45 min every day though because I am building it in a class at school called "Intro to Aerodynamics":D. It is an independant study my guidance counciler and I cooked up. The only problem is that in 45min it seems like you just get going then the bell rings.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
sounds good. keep plodding along. good things take time. yell if you need help. dick

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
sounds like Yaaalll are progressing along super. next step is too enlarge the plans to 80'' and put an extra servo and release hook on the wing, so you can mount the little one on board for in flight release. it worked for me and it gives the guys watching a thrill at separation. sorry that they no longer exist, No thanks to Katrina. there are foto's of them on old pages of RCU. dick

Here is a Lazy Bee I scratch built many years ago. Thats my son it the picture.
The second picture shows how long ago it was. :) Robert |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
reminds me of the 80" one that I built, all boam board construction, except pine main spars, that carried the small Bee with inflight release. worked good on the ground, however Hurricane Katrina took all of my models, so never got a chance to fly them. pictures back someplace in my history listing. dick

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Where can you still buy any of the lazy bee kits?
|
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
flyforfood -
I believe the short answer is nowhere. Supposedly ARF versions of the Electric Lazy Bee 40", the Glow Big Bee 60' and the Glow Speedy Bee 52" are all available through Global Hobby retailers. But I can't find any. The only kits/arfs/plans I've found have been via eBay or individuals selling on the forums. Check eBay and ask on this forum and you might find someone at least willing to sell a plan ! Lots Of Luck Richard |

ORIGINAL: flyforfood99 Where can you still buy any of the lazy bee kits? Like the other guy said you will not find kits any where, but doing it this way! EBAY http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-plans-inst-LA...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Cox-Lazy-Bee-Ult...dZp1638Q2em124 The first is a set of plans the second is a kit from COX. |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Thanks. I'd sure love to find a kit or plans of the Giant Lazy-B version. I've always wanted to build one of those. If anyone has one, PM me!

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
its real easy. find a small BEE plan and up scale it to your size. this exercise will get you interested in all sorts of planes to build. it more fun than buying kits or ARF's. dick

Good luck and happy flying. Myself I am in the process of building 3 lazy bee's from scratch I have a set of plans for a 40"ws and a set of plans for a 48"ws. My two youngest sons want a 40" and I am building a 48" for myself. |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Now I know why the Lazy Bee is no more. Cox. I imagine they bought the rights to the plane, built a few of these polyfoam Arf's, and gave up on the idea. Since they seem to have no interest in it anymore, maybe they would sell the rights cheap and let someone else bring them back to production. The Lazy Bee has got to be in the top twenty of all time models built. I may have to get plans and have a go at it. Rod S |

Here are some pictures of the lazy bee I just completed. It flys awesome and I love it. It turned out to be about 2.5lbs and has an eflite 25 sized motor on it with a 2100ma l. ion battery. I would just like to say thanks to all of you who have helped me get this get this funny looking little fella airborn!

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Slowglow - that is one good looking build. :)

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Hey thanks! I had a lot of fun building this cartoonlike plane. I think that it needs a set of floats, then I can start on a speedy bee. I just love the way this plane flies. I just need to find a fitting pilot and possibly some passengers.

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee

And what did you cover it with ? Looks like transparent yellow and black paint ? Richard |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
It was my first build from plans with out a kit. It wasnt really hard at all because of the great instructions. It is covered with transparent yellow and black ultrakote. With the eflite 25 it is grossely overpowerd, but it is very nice to fly at 1/8 throttle! Thanks for the compliments!

RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
That extra power will serve you well when you start to yank and crank on her a little. It rolls well with the 40" or the 48" wing. It will flat spin, loop, wing over.....just too much fun. I need to get off my lazy butt and build another one.
Congrats on a good looking Bee!!! |
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
Yea I see some serious aerobatic potential in this little bugger..........[sm=lol.gif] It does rolls quite well with a full rudder input though. The arent pretty or axieal (sp?), more like a barrel roll but they look like what you would expect from the big tired cartoon plane. I have not flow it for the class at school yet so I haven't been brave enough to try the more violent aerobatics. Thanks for the compliment imsofaman, you are the one who inspired me to track down some speedy bee plans, and in the process get a set of lazy bee plans as well. I really like your sylvester themed speedy bee. Do you still have it?
|
RE: Clancy Lazy Bee
I lost the Sylvester/tweety Speedy Bee one year after I completed it. It was dropped in a huge swamp and I looked for a week for her....got serious poison ivy so bad I was sick like the flu. So....I just built another one....not same colors but....I will get another done one day. I still have my blue and red one.
I had accidentally deleted a good Lazy Bee movie I made a while back.....I will have to upload that again. Not sure if you saw my latest Speedy Bee movie. When I find my old Lazy Bee movie.....i will post that for you..... Dave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waxoK3CT6kk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w16ql...eature=related :) |
