SSE Throttle Control Ideas Needed

A lot of you have rotated the engine 90 degrees on you Somethin' Extras. For an OS 2-stroke that means moving the throttle cable to the lower left corner of the firewall when viewed from the front. The control needs to be routed under the tank tray, then up and over the fenolic (spelling) tube that acts as a bearing for the wing tube and back to the servo tray location for the throttle servo.

So, what kind of creative trickery did you use to make for a smooth, untensioned throttle control?

Thanks!

Usually in instances like that, I'll use cable ran inside of tubing

You could also use a large nylon bellcrank or one of these: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD939&P=7

Ifutzed around with some popsicle stick ends, 1/8" tubing, an old servo arm, epoxy and some scrap wood ...

The ply cross arm can be CA'd to fuse just behind the former and then the rest can be screwed to the ply. This will provide a straight control arm shot under the tank tray to the firewall as well as a nearly straight shot back to the SIG-provided throttle servo location over the wing tube bushing tube.

Or, I can use a HS-85BBservo mounted upside down just behind the former, over the landing gear mounting plate and call it good ...

So many options ... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/50_50.gif

I recently decided to run Sig's flexible cable to the throttle on my Thunder Tiger .91 4stroke mounted in the nose of a new Astro Hog. The carb is so close to the firewall I decided to run the cable out the bottom of the firewall and loop it 180 degrees upward and back toward the throttle from the front! Anyway, the Sig cable is a bit thick and braided, a bit mushy feeling, and didn't work freely. When replaced with some bicycle derailleur cable, though, the linkage works fine. The bike cable is thinner and twisted instead of braided. Its ends that extend out of the plastic sheath were soldered for stiffness.

My LHS has some 1/32" Sullivan cable within a sheath. You could loop that stuff around your wrist and it would work freely.
