need some help on selecting an engine mount

Hi, im building a Goldberg Chipmunk. The engine that I've selected is a ys 110. I know it is a bit overkill for that plane.
Anyway the stock engine mount is pure trash, and i could use some sugesstions on a good vibration dampening mount.
Any sugestions?

Gator R/C has some nice soft-n-safe mounts. DuBro's are nice too, but weigh more. Hyde's are quite pricey, but are supposed to be the best. Central Hobbies carries the hyde and Gator, or you can get Gator direct from mfg. DuBro's available anywhere.

There was an article in RCM on how to soft mount any motor mount.
What you did was to have rubber grommets between the mount and the forewall and also behind the firewall, underneath a large washer and the nut.
Same applies to the mount side, place a rubber grommet on the bolt, under the head.
I would assume you need nylock nuts if you use this method, or at least some mechanicm to tighten the mount properly, yet so the nuts don't vibrate loose.

Hope this helps

Here's a picture of the K&B 61 on my old Diablo. It is using the "Top Hat" shaped grommets for a soft engine mount.

Nyloc nuts are not the way to go, as the screw itself can wiggle and increase wear.

What you need to do is use a metal tube inside the grommets, sized in length to get the proper tension on the grommets when the screw comes tight. The metal tube inside makes the grommets last longer too, not having the sharp screw threads cutting them on the inside.

Bill.
