Alright so I'm looking into getting this kit, but I have a few questions, where do you all fin the wheels other then the ones that you can get from dubro? Second does it come with the fly wire and instruction on adding those? And third does anyone know where to find som cheaper decals for this airplane other then balsa usa?

RE: Another Eindecker build

I got my wheels from Tower Hobby. I used wire and attachments from a pull pull system from Dubro and got the placement from photos on line of a full scale Eindecker. I cut the iron crosses out of Ultracoat using the detail on the plans

I have actually started designing my own wheels for this kit, but I do appreciate all the info!

I finally got some video of my EIII in flight. A friend took this at our fly-in, thanks, Bob.

Hey Folks,

Am finishing up the covering portion build of my Balsa USA Eindecker 90. Have covered is with Solartex Fabric covering and now I will need to be doing some painting.

Over many, many years of building models I have used just about every name brand of paint that you can find on the shelf, but I have never used KRYLON or RUST-OLEUM on a fabric type of covering. I have used these paints on various home, sporting and model projects, usually with great results, but this is my first build that I have ever used the Solartex Fabric covering.

Thus, I am wondering if anybody has ever used these paints on the material that I have mentioned above ? RUST-OLEUM also has a " HAMMERED " effect paint that I would like to use on the cowling for a more realistic appearance.

Also, not quite sure if I sure go with a white or gray colored primer. I assume gray would be the best primer if I was to used the HAMMERED affect paint over it.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thank you ................

If you look back on page 4 you will see my thread about Rustoleum and using the hammered look on my cowl.. Very happy with the results. The plane flys great with no bad habits.

Now, I am wondering, where are the windshields on these Eindecker models ? I have viewed quite a few models with no windshields.

Are you folks putting them on and if so, what are you using to attach them ?

Just to add a quick note: I Super Glued the rubber edging around the cockpit and the glue stick really good. Does anybody think that I could also put the rubber edging on the bottom of the windshield and also " very carefully " Super Glue it to the fuselage  As I stated before, at this point in the build I just do not want to end up with a cobb job glue job and had to do repairs before it even leaves the building table.

Windshield and frame are complete. Will be attaching to fuselage with epoxy and #2 screws. I know it will hold !! :o

Also used Rustoleum HAMMER paint on my cowl and with about 4 or 5 coats I obtained a very good look to my cowl. Probably could have gotten away with fewer coats of paint, but was happy with each added spraying, thus I went with the heavier coats of paint.
