Another one done......
|
Pretty close, I have to make the aileron rods, set the throws and it can be ran to set the pipe.
I come in right at 7 pounds The colors are probably not for everyone, and I'm not really sure myself but here's the deal............ I don't build stuff to look at it............... or admire setting in the pits area at the flying field. I build stuff to fly, always and often, so I need to be able to see it, the color scheme has to be visible. My concern is if I can see it at 2000 feet away or on a long final for a landing approach. I think this ole gal will look great in the air....................................... |
Ok ready to fly, maybe this weekend……
The weight came in at 6 pounds 15 oz. Day 21 I’ll take that…..😅 https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...bc9961481.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...e668a8830.jpeg |
Ready for a little wax on that fine covering job to slick it up real nice and see how fast it will go.
Another good looking airplane added to the hanger... |
Thanks Stephan!!
Sell me another cool kit like this one....................................... |
I sure have appreciated the 2 builds of yours which you have shared recently. It takes me back in time but I in no way could attest to being such an efficient builder as you. To you I raise my hat and glass. Thank you for being willing to bare you're all, with us all.

Edge,
Appreciate the feedback, I'm just goofing off a little. Thanks and appreciate it !! Got a new thread going now called "Allied Hobbies Integra" Go check it out, it's from 1975................... Rick, I'm waiting on a pull switch to come in the mail and then it's ready. I'll get her up fairly soon if the weather holds up............................ |
Nice one Rich

Since us Super Tigre lovers are few and far between, is it too late to cut in a top hatch - just in case you ever part with it to one of those egg beater power modelers? 98% of the hobby market being electric these days (give or take) who got lazy with foam in a box, won't have a brain aneurysm about converting it over to EP. You can get a lot more for a model the day you retire it if there is an access hatch on top for their lipo battery. I know I know, stop cussing, I'm with you, I'm just thinking ahead.
Remember when you could buy any width header from Mac's website to match your fuselage? A header and pipe cost more today than the engine itself. It's now a hobby of improvisation, and what Dave Platt called years ago, the principle of scarfology. |

From your fuselage graphics only pic to your finished graphics it's outstanding. Very nicely done is an understatement. A question, were the plans you have from the Eureka short kit? I looked up the plans from Outerzone and they don't have the extra views which I believe help a lot. I assume you made your own balsa list to finish the build.

I used the outerzone plans and used wood from my stash.
I'll get it up flying soon, several others to maiden before this one. Thanks! Dave |
Hey Dave, thanks for the comeback. I went further on Outerzone and found your plan (and supporting docs) shown in your pictures. My bad. I'm getting back into the RC world and pattern planes are my weakness. I research a lot of builds but haven't pulled the trigger on which one to start building. Look forward to your maiden flights. I understand, there are many to choose from. I really did enjoy building the troublemaker, but also enjoyed doing the Integra and Hammer 60. You will find what you want. The build threads can be found here also in the kit building section.....The eureka short kit was my first with that company.........very nice wood and cutting. I think I prefer the kit build over the short kit build, but good luck finding a troublemaker kit............

Here is a new project on the table that will be a short kit/scratch build. I’m not a big plan builder so let’s see if this works out ok. I love the old pattern planes and stumbled upon a Eureka short kit recently.
I just picked up my print and am now picking wood and hardware that I have laying around. This should be fun, have several fine engines and pipes to choose from……… https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...511380428.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...2b46f9ed7.jpeg |

Got my first real set back today, was doing a pre cover balance to see if I’m close on c/g. I added the 5 servos, prop, everything except covering and had to add a ton of tail weight to make it balance. In total I’m going to have to add 5-6 oz of tail weight bringing my all up weight to 6.35 with no covering. I shouldn’t ***** too much, I’ll still be right around 6.5 or slightly over. I read online others were between 7 and 8 pounds so I’m bummed but it is what has to be done.
