Sig SE - Antenna wire
 

Sig SE has a tube for the antenna wire that goes from the servo tray through the fuse and out the bottom back.
The plane is covered and I can't get the wire through the tube. Maybe the CA melted the tube where I glued it? :confused:
I guess I will have to route the wire another way.
Any suggestions?

installed a tube,fuel line,in top of plane just behind the canopy and down to the controls,ran wire thru tube, then connected the wire to the vertical stab.Have seen outer tube of golden rod, or anything similar,installed with landing gear straps to bottom or plane then antenna routed thru it.

I used a Deans stinger (base-loaded whip) and mounted it behind the rear cockpit former with clear RTV.

Works fine for me and no antenna hanging outside.

Try dropping a needle and thread through the tube from the tail, carefully push the needle up the antenna wire a 1/4" to 1/2". Gently pull the thread back through as you feed the antenna wire through. I have used this method a few times, be patient.

Have you tried running a small wire down the tube?

The tube is small, so I did not have anything that would fit through it. I will try the needle and tread and see if it will go through.
Pulling it through could work depending on how bad the tube is.

if you have a piece of telephone wire a single strand of that will go through also.. I like the needle and thread idea though.

Ok

Tried the needle and thread but the tube curves out of the bottom of the servo tray, the needle could not make the curve without binding.

On to the next idea. Telephone wire. Cut and split the telephone cord. The piece went through the tube easily.

But, how do I get the antenna wire connected to the phone wire?
Can't tie them. I trimmed the end of the telephone wire, It had nylon reenforcement string inside, perfect. I frayed the nylon, put on some med CA. held it to the end of the antenna wire. When it was dry, it pulled right through.

I had trouble getting mine through too. I straightened out the wire really well and gave it a good dusting of baby powder. Went through pretty easily after that.

That should work as long as there isn't something actually blocking the tube.

I have used a piece of monofilament fishing line to push through the tube and used the CA trick to fasten the ant wire and monofilament line together. The monofilament line is stiff and small enough to push through. Cheers
