I mounted my elevator servos in the side. One for both halves. I am planning on putting the rudder servo on the bottom of the fuse and making it a pull pull rudder.

I am thinking of sliding my canopy forward and making it removable. What do you think?

A question bgfireman. In your wing pics I see short pieces at a diagonal to your ribs from behind the main spar to the last spar (no clue as to what they are called). I know they help to stiffen the wing a lot. All of that just to ask if they are air foiled shape and would touch the wing covering or are they set bellow rib height and would totally disappear once you cover the wing?

RE: 4*120 Build Thread

flyingagin,
I made those out of 3/32 sheel balsa I bought serperate. I just cut them to be inside of the wing. They stiffend up the wing quite a bit. Several people told me they flex, and I wanted to correct it.
Thanks
Alan
PS it works as intended.

Well, no post lately. Been a little slow here lately. Saving up for a few parts. I ordered my C&H Ignition today for my G38. Can't wait to get going!

RE: 4*120 Build Thread

Hello everyone,

I have just recieved my 4* 120 kit and it will be my first build. As i am ready to start the wing assemblythis weekend i have a question about glue. Is CA better or worse then wood glue, like Sig Glue or TightBond, for general building use? Which is heavier? I'd like to start this off on the right foot.

Thanks,

LongIslander</p>

I used CA for the ribs and the stringers.. epoxy to glue the spars together..

Think of it this way CA is light & strong but can be fragile, epoxy is very strong, but heavy. Wood glue is strong but can be heavy too. so a balance of all works.. let me know if you have a specific area you are concerned about

RE: 4*120 Build Thread

some people use wood glue for most of the build where i like ca glue since it drys alot faster...

I'm more or less allergic to CA so I use the Titebond and 30 min epoxy mostly

I just use the thin CA on hinges sometimes

I have always used ca untill the last Four Star 120 I build. On it I used Titebond and 30 min epoxy. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I also went to the pet store and bought a smal syringe, it helped to apply the glue.

RE: 4*120 Build Thread

At the top of most of these pages lately has been a add for gorilla glue. That is what I used. They make some for wood, and this is what I have been using. They sell it at WalMart too, so that helps out with the price. I used it on a Sig Cub and it worked great. It gives you time if you make a mistake to correct it. CA does not. Also CA makes the wood hard and makes it hard to sand later on where I have not had a problem sanding the wood glue. More than likely it is just a personal preference thing, and how fast you want to finish. I wasn't in a hurry. When I am I make mistakes.
Happy building
Alan

Here are a few of the latest pix. As they say on the farm"I'm in the short rows". I have to set the timing on my g38(just put a C&H ignition on it) mount ailerons, elevator, and rudder, and put in all the electronics. So it want be much longer.
