I agree you might have a problem with the white. I have been flying a P-51 Mustang its all gray with white stripes on the wing. Almost lost it in the gray sky. I added a red strip down the fuse. You could use yellow to match your pattern.

Maybe a yellow dart on the fuse wouldn't be a bad idea. I just hate to lose this thing to something as stupid as bad orientation.:(

Logan, gotta say that covering job really does look awesome. Did you say that was the first one you've done? Here's a shot of my Ultimate, powered by a Webra .50. All in all I love it, but I do get some flutter from the rudder if I don't back down on the throttle enough coming on the downside of a loop. I've bought a pull-pull cable setup but have yet to take the time to move the rudder servo and run the cables. One of these days though.

Looking forward to those progress photos tychoc. I have a couple od saito's and those are awesome engines. I have a .91 in my hog bipe and the power is unbelieveable.
Awesome bipe cobre99. Yes, this is my first build. I have some arf's but those are a joke to assemble. I am also considering a pull, pull setup. When you get yours done, would you post some picts of how you did it and how it performed. As for the flutter problem, I am looking at the aileron connector rods and boy do they seem flimsey. Did you use the stock rods or did you use something else? I hear of guys using carbon rods and ball links to cure this potentially bad area. Just wondering if you have had any problems in this area?.

Quite frankly, if this person is experienced enough to fly a biplane, orientation ought not be an issue. If a person is worried about orientation, use a spotter/co-pilot for the first few flights. With my first bipe, this was an issue, but as with any airplane, once you get to know it- orientation is no more an issue than with any other aircraft.

If your concerned about it, change it, but I wouldn't reccomend it. I personally like the view you have created from below!

I agree, I like how it looks now and think that would be more than enough to identify it in the air.

Logan, I used the stock torque rods but with 2 aileron servos in the center of the wing. Looking back on it, I would have preferred to mount them out on the wings with a straight pushrod back to the aileron horn, but I haven't had any trouble out of those torque rods yet.

I've got another big project on the bench with a smaller one lined up behind it, but whenever I do get around to setting up that pull-pull rig I'll snap some shots of it.

Thanks cobra. I think I will leave my sceme alone. You guys are right, If I can't see that sceme. I don't need to be flying. I guess what I meant earlier isn't so much the orientation, but just plain loosing it in a white sky. I think the check pattern on the tips is more than adequate to help visualize my plane.

I've gotten my started. I'll try to post some pictures after I'm done with the marathon on Sunday. Right now the preparations takes all of my time and energy.

hey guys my ultimate had its maiden flights two weekends ago. It was a perfect day and the flights all went well with the help of my friend. didnt have enough airleron throw on low rates. Only a few click here and there for trim. Landed like charm. My red and white is very easy to see. Just need a higher pitch prop to try for the next flights ASP 80 13X6 want to try a 13X8

The only thing I did not like about the kit was the single aileron servo. I just could not get enough throw on the ailerons,and I was afraid one servo may not handle four ailerons in extreme manuevers. So I decided to build sevo bays in the wings. This was done after the plane was built and flown several times with the single servo. With the dual servos I get much better response and a little more throw.

Cool acam37. How about a picture of the whole airplane. I like your color scheme.

Very nice bipe sprvw. How does it like the snow skis? We don't have any snow on the ground anymore but temps just above zero. I put skis on an electric plane i have, but only got to fly it off the snow a few times. I was impressed how well it flew off of the snow though. It was almost like flying off of pavement.

The ultimate loved the skis and so do I. Flying in the winter is great, there are 4 of us that regularly go out in the winter. Its been very cold here the last couple of weeks, cant wait to get out again and test the bipe out some more

Glued the stab to the fuse tonight. Made sure the stab and wing are parallell using a laser.
Tomorrow morning before work, I will glue the fin and then start the turtledeck assembly this weekend.

Those of you that have finished the Ultimate and are using a 4stroke engine, can you take a picture of the throttle linkage for me? I'm unsure as to how it should be routed.

Hi tychoc, I am running an OS four stroke and when I ran my linkage, I drilled the hole they have marked for the 2 stroke throttle hole and used a "J" bend in the throttle control rod. It seemed to work pretty good, but I still have not ran the motor in the plane yet. I got the idea from a review someone did on this plane and that is what they did.

By the way, very nice job on the framing of your plane. I see you decided to go with an aileron servo per side of the wing. I kind of wished I had done the same thing. Some of the flying I do involves the use of flaperons and with just one servo I can't do it. I will probably redo it next fall, or maybe make the single servo bay wider and mount 2 of them side by side. I don't know yet.

I'm not building this plane... but I have built a couple with 4strokes and had linkage problems... a hog bipe and the latest being a kadet sr arf for my daughter.
I bought a strip of carbon fiber material from the lhs and fabricated a tiller arm about 2-2 1/2" long and 5/15" or so wide. Drilled a mounting hole in the middle and linkage holes on each end. Mount this "tiller" using the middle hole on the outside edge / towards the nose of the motor mount. Run your throttle cable to the linkage hole at the bottom of the tiller and make a 2-56 or 4-40 linkage rod going back to the carb. If you take your time this makes a nice linkage and get you away from the cramped space of the rear mounted carb on your 4stroke. If you want to see a pic I can try to get time this weekend to take a pic of my daughter's kadet. Can't show you the hog bipe... someone else has that [:@] [8D].

I just tried the incidence meter today, and I have a -0.5 deg incidence between the stab and the bottom wing. Should I try to correct this?
