Can anyone identify this plane?
1 Attachment(s)
A member of my R/C club gave this plane to me. He does not remember what it's called or the company that issued the kit a few years ago. It looks like a something extra but has a 67" wingspan and calls for a 120 engine? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Barzini |

RE: Can anyone identify this plane?
A something extra never came in this size as far as i know.

RE: Can anyone identify this plane?
I sure looks like a scaled up Somethin' Extra... It also appears to be laser cut so that would like rule out someone scaling up the Somethin' Extra... I seem to recall that there was a plane that was very similar to a scaled up Somethin' Extra called the Freedom 3D or something like that a couple of years ago...

Looks like an AK Models 3D Freedom to me. Follow the link to an old thread where someone built one. Pictures start at post #42. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_29..._2/key_/tm.htm

Thanks,
That's what it is an AK MODELS 3D Freedom. I do not have a plan and do not know where the recommended c.g. is. Does anyone know the C.G? Does anyone still fly this plane? Any help is appreciated. Barzini |
RE: Can anyone identify this plane?
Don't sweat the CG... That fat wing will has a wide CG range. Simply set it to 25-30% MAC, or for simplicity put the CG on the spar/wing tube, and go fly. You can adjust it to suit your flying style and tastes via flight testing.
