Rustolem is it fuelproof
 

Hey , I'm building a TF p51. I have some old ,really old, ABS exhaust stacks that look great. I drilled the outlets out and want to paint them Silver to match the cowl. Will Rustolem hold up to glow fuel. Also how about testors brush on paint? Anyone know?Thanks..

Some Rustoleum is fuelproof. Others, including silver may not be. This has been discussed a number of times and the answer is usually "buy some of the color you want and test it!" If it works to your satisfaction--spray it and be happy. If not--use it for spraying lawn furniture and report the results. Regards.

I have used just about every color of rustolem paint and have found that all the "GLOSS" is fuel proof and I haven't found any of there other colors that were fuel proof. Both brush and spray. You can always just clear coat it.

I've found that the flats, clear and metallics don't hold up well at all to glow fuel. All of the gloss solids that I've tried held up well.
I have read somewhere that the brush on Rustoleum silver is fuelproof but I haven't tried it myself.
Incidentally, I've found that even the fuel resistant Rustoleums benefit a great deal from a good, long drying time in warm, dry weather. Otherwise, you may have problems.

I did my flight box in Rustoleum Epoxy paint (beige). Definately not fuelproof!

I think you will find silver in almost anything is not fuel proof. There is something about the pigment in it. I don't know what it is but most silvers I have used came off. You see it on cars too. The only one I have ever had work was K & B epoxy paint. That stuff was great.

Cuda, make sure to dry it for a couple weeks. I tested some gloss black for use on a boat, and after it dried for a couple days I tested it. It bubbled up badly. Supposedly, if it cures a long, long long time, it will be ok.
