Hi, my name is Dan.
As my first plane I will build the PT40.[8D][8D][8D]
I would like to have some sugestions about the building.

I built the 'sport' wing and was glad I did. If I were to build another PT, I would take more dihedral out and the wash-out as well. I would also build it as a tail-dragger. Rig as much aileron travel as possible. This is a great airplane but like most trainers it is treacherous in a crosswind. They are very resilient airplanes and can take tons of abuse. Have fun.

I built the PT-60, which is really just a slightly bigger version of the same plane.

The number one suggestion: Read the instructions, and study the pictures, multiple times before starting. Then read and study each step multiple times before cutting or gluing the parts.

I recommend building the "sport" wing versus the "trainer" wing, and using ailerons from the beginning. The trainer wing has so much dihedral (looks like a flying 'V') that it will blow over in the slightest cross-wind.

I built the bolt-on wing option rather than using rubber bands. This is just a personal preference. I've seen rubber bands destroy a wing in a crash. I crashed my PT-60 (the first time) and the bolts broke with very little damage to the wing.

In general, follow the instructions as closely as possible and you should end up with a good plane.

I built my PT with the bolt on sport wing. and no washout. Make sure you build on a perfectly flat table and read the instuctions
a few times before starting. Very easy build and can be done in a resonably short amount of time. Remember to
take your time and dry fit all pieces and sand parts for proper fit.

i just got done with my first kit and i covered everything seperate, stab, fin fuse, wing, is it better to cover the plane after you glue the parts on or before?

On my PT and my Tiger 60 I covered the Vertical and horizontal stabilizers after gluing them to the fuse.
I covered the ailerons elevator and rudder seperately then hinged them when the covering was done.
I think it is a matter of preference. Also some people don't like to cover 90 degree inside corners.

i would go with the sport wing and wing bolt option.this plane is a good first plane,my daughter and i built the 60 size.with the sport wing you can do some advanced manouvers after you learn on it.i cover everything first seperate then assemble and make fillet pices to cover the glue joints to me a plane looks better that way.

Finaly I opened the box. I couldn't start building because the room was full.
Now I have place and I already started.

I have a question: When I glue two parts togather, should I glu them from both sides or no? Because as I see now from one side they are glued and from the other side no.
Another question is: What I have to do if both of my Fin parts are not strait? I mean that both of them have some initial curvature.

how bad is the curvature?
about gluing, i attach the parts together on a straight board with pins, then i drop few drops of thin CA on them and let it hardened.

the curvature is not so bad, it's small.
Can you tell me what form of "V" sould I do on the elevator?

Hi Alex, I asked about the form of "V", but now I'm fine.
I finished the tail and started the fuse sides.
Tell me when your plane is finished.

I built the Pt-40 and maidened it just a few days ago...it has the A wing and flew great!!! I have yet to test it in a crosswind...........
