Building a built up wing
 

I have a Funky 40 ( www.camodel.com.ar )
All I have to do now is build the wing a tail. For the wing, it is my first built up, and I am wondering if anyone has any pointers on how to build it straight and true, do the sheeting, etc.

Also, I ahve to do the tail. For this, you have to cut the balsa atock to the shape in the plans. Does anyone have any pointers on how to cut the balsa so that it is a perfect join? I can do it ok, but it should be alot better to keep it strong.

Chech your main wing spars for bows. If they are bowed, build the wing so that the bows oppose each other. See pic.

Also make sure your building surface is flat, and that the wing is flat against the surface, at least until the shear webs and top sheeting are installed.

Good blades and a good saw are very important.

Pin a straight edge down to the plan and then push the lower spar against it. Pin the spar in place and then remove the straight edge.

Keep the wing pinned down until the glue is COMPLETELY dry. I use weights all over the wing to hold it down and move the weight around to keep it out of the way of whatever I'm working on.
