Hi everyone,

We were looking for an airframe to carry some pretty good weight, so we went with the Telemaster. The size of this plane will work perfect for what we intend to use it for. We plan to run a full pan & tilt video down link, still camera, and anything else we need. We also plan to use the Eagletree system, with gps, on the aircraft for all the in-flight data.

The only thing I have framed up is the wing. The only balsa left on the wing is the LE and TE and most of the ribs, everything else has been replaced with basswood. To get as much area in side the fuse for all the electronics, I decided to go with wing tanks. If my math is right each tank comes out to about 27oz. I figured its better to have too much then not enough. There is also going to be navigation, anti-collision, and landing lights.

Any comments, concerns, ideas are greatly appreciated

Have you see the Quinn Cadet 84" wing span copies the Senior cadet with a sheeted fuse and a great flyer .

what is the cutout on the left side of the wing for?

sscherin - Its the 95" wing, and the cutout is the landing lights (I think thats what your talking about.)

I got the lights done yesterday. All I need to finish them is the connector to plug the wing into the fuse.

Progress update...

Well it's almost ready to sheet! Few things didn't turn out the way I was planning it, but I think the project is turning out pretty well. First thing that happen that I didn't like, was I had to put a joint on top of the tanks. 12x6 brass sheet from K&S is the largest I could find without making a special order. Both tanks were pressure tested to 5 PSI for about a hour, then cleaned real well with acetone. All the plumbing was a challenge, but extremely fun!

Oh yeah lol.... My math was a little off, the tanks came out to 24oz each...

What did you use for lights. What kind and where might I find them.

I ordered all my lights from [link=http://www.besthongkong.com/index.php?cPath=13&ref=4]Best Hong Kong[/link] I used the 3mm ultra brights, in the highest mcd for the color I wanted. The prices are awesome! I ordered enough to last me a long time.

It was very fun! At first I went out and bought those spring type tube benders. I don't know if I was doing it wrong, or was to inpatient, but I just couldn't get it to work the tube always kinked. So, I went out and got the Durbro 5/32 tube bender, and was still getting kinks. Than I tried heating the metal up, and after that I had no problems.

Tank hatches are done... Waiting for a few parts to show up this week, than I'm going to do the sheeting. The screws in the pictures are not the ones im going to use. I'm planning on using those pan head screws from Dubro.

Well, she is skinned. Besides the wing tips, control surfaces, and a few more items the wing is almost done. Time to start on the fuse!!

I made a little video of the flaps working. They are not fine tuned yet, I would like to have them set at 15° and 30°.

Can't believe it's been about 2 years since this project started in our shop. Glad to see it's finally coming together. I remember trying to get the lights to sink and flash properly, my basement looked like a bad Radio Shack nightmare for awhile... :D I cannot wait until it's time to maiden this big bird.. Now we just have to decide, we doing it here or there? lol Keep up the good work, hopefully see you at warbirds..

I know it man... can't believe it's been that long already. Well anyway, since I'm waiting on some wood to start the fuse, I moved on to the vert stab. Lets just say doing to wiring on this was not easy!!! lol

Wow, that looks sharp. Did you glass over the tube for the wires? Can't wait to see how the bay comes along..

lol I don't know if I should wait to get the wood from thomsons while I'm in town, or order it from balsausa... man I want to start on the fuse!!! No its just epoxy over the tube finished with wood filler.

Well its been awhile, but there has been some progress on the build! The fuselage is pretty much framed up, and filling up fast.
