Built it in 17 days. Thats fast for me.
Really easy build.
Powered by an OS 52. Shortened wings by 1 rib each side. Extended rudder by 3/4". Rest is stock.

Compared to most Four Stars I've seen, that's a different look. It's beautiful. How does if fly with that 3 bladed prop?

I just got back from the flying field and the Four Star 40 flys great. Its a real easy airplane to fly. Bout as easy as a trainer.
1 click left aileron and 1 click down elevator trim was all the was needed for straight level flight.
The OS .52 didnt like the 3-bladed 12x7 prop. It was a little too much for it. So I put on a 11x8 APC. the little OS .52 turns it at 10,200 and throttle responce is great. I may try a 12x7.

Beat you (but not greenboot, WOW you must have built in your sleep) I built mine in 9 days, and that was with tapered control surfaces and a sheeted turtledeck.

 You guys must build in your sleep. Took me 5 weeks to build my first 4*60 & 4 weeks to build the 2nd. I want to build a 120 size real bad now.

i find the 'number of days' stat misleading - do you guys work, are we talking evenings, weekends, etc.? how about an estimate for the number of HOURS it took to build as well as how much experience you have. i've got about 40 hrs. into my first kit - a venture 60 - and i haven't even covered it yet :( not a big surprise as i'm anal about things and i am finding the learning curve pretty steep (i.e first wing panel took about 12 hrs. and the second one about 4 heh). just curious what other people's building times are like . . . .

it took 17 days to build my four star. About 4 or 5 days i didnt even touch the plane. I spent about 4 hours a day when i did work on it. A couple of days I did spend about 8 hours on it.
So doing the math it came out to about 56 hours. Its a rough estimate.

Even when working on the plane I get numerous interuptions and have to go take care of other things in my life.
I guess there is more to life than RC.

heres a pic of my old Four Star 60 that lasted 11 flights until the crystal whent out in the RX.

I also installed retracts. If you look close you can see the retracts still in the wing.

see thread for more info on the Four Star 60 i built

My kit arrived on the doorstep Tuesday and was ready to fly the following Sunday. Just a crazy thing I did, not much eating or sleeping that week. Only weather prevented it from actually flying, but it was 100% complete. And yes, I do have a full time job (unfortunately).

With no wingtips and no sheeting, each wing half takes about an hour to assemble (using Ca). The whole plane was built in two evenings, then two evenings to cover and one for final assembly. Since it was my second Four Star, I didn't waste any time reading instructions!

The crashed 4-Star in my gallery is actually the 5 day special.

Did mine in 7 days , Started on a Saturday got it done the next Saturday. Second one I've built so it was a breeze. I also shorten the wing by one rib bay. Great mod in my book. Enlarged the rudder about 3/4 of a inch, used a Somethin Extra canopy. I have a TT 42 in this one, light and fast. It always comes to me to the field. JT

I lost my first four star kit in the woods after I lost elevator controll. I have a new one on the way but there's no way I could have it done in a week. Any tips?

My longest building session was 36 hours streight building my SIG HOG BIPE with breaks to eat and use the bathroom. i finished everything except i did not put the covered tail stab and rudder. I lerned a lesson though, the longer you build, the more tired you get, and the more tired you get, the slower you build!
