GP extra 300S-60 questions

Hi everyone.
I want to build this plane for my Saito 91. Would it have great vertical and do all the maneuver well (I can get 9500 rpm with a 14-6 MA prop)?
Does this plane need a better servo for the rudder? And can all the other be the standart S3003 from futaba, and do you think it is really necessary 2 servos 3003 for the elevator?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Daniel,
I have that plane with an OS91fs and it doesn't have "great" vertical. It is a very nice flyer with that engine and it's a beautiful plane. I'll be flying it today!

The servo power you need depends on how much control throw you want. When you setup for 3D deflections, you are lowering the mechanical advantage the servo has. This means you need more torque. If you want to have "high" rates, I would suggest a high torque servo for the rudder and elevator.

I am using one 9202 on the elevator and one on rudder.

Hi.
Thanks for your reply. It won´t have unlimited vertical but will fly without problems of power or will I have to buy a stronger engine?
Can you show me some pics of the plane and with you near it so I can see the size of this extra 300?

Thanks a lot.

I have this plane and I opted for an OS 1.20 Surpass III. I currently am swinging a 16/8 Mejzlik prop on it. I have unlimited vertical and good overall speed. The plane flys great and is easy to handle. I went with Futaba 9202's on all surfaces and I find them a good match. Good Luck with yours!

I have some old Airtronics 94201 servos on a 6v setup on mine. Mine also has a Saito .91, at full throttle it will do unlimited vertical, but a couple clicks off of full throttle and it will not. It's plenty for me though.

Danny,
My flying style is very traditional and scale like. The 90fs is 100% adequate for this. If you want to do 3D, then you need the bigger engine. Or you could built the 40 size with the Saito you have. I understand who people like the big engines, but you have to decide what you really want.

I think you will be happy with the size of the plane. The large fuselage and canopy makes it look bigger than the 64" wingspan seems. I have two pictures in my gallery but none which show the size.

A Saito 1.00 would greatly improve the performance over a .91.

It will fly nice with the Saito .91. A guy at my club has that combo. It will fly any aerobatic manuver you can think of. But it just dosen't have the ponies to haul the plane through 3D stuff.

I have a GP Extra 300S kit and Saito 100 that is up next as soon as my US40+ is done.

I have a GP 300. Originally used an OS 91 Surpass with goods results, but have replaced it with a Satio 100 that really makes it move.
