Has anyone built one of these kits? If so, would you please tell me about the kit and what is needed to finish it...does all the wood come in the box? How about the landing gear? Any information would be helpful..thanks, Gerry :D :D :D

the dust builds FAST, there isnt much there, I built mine one day, covered and finished it off the next, two days box to flight!
No landing gear, its a belly lander. It is fast with a good engine on it, put a .50 on it! Ive got a BB.46 and its pretty fast! scares some at the field on flyby's!

oh, it comes with all wood and such, again, there is not much there, here is a bones pic.

Flying Z hobbies (sebree Ky) has these in stock I think they sell for 65.00. They would be more than happy to fix you up. They fly the heck out of these at the field there in Ky. Watching Harold Parker touch the wing tip to the ground at full throttle is wild! Their Phone number is 270-835-9001 I have had one of these and thought is was a really fun plane. Perfect Motor Combo?

Could any one tell me what the ultimate motor combo (Motor/Pipe) that will make this plane go over 200 MPH? I think the Jett will do it but I don't want to spend that much money...got any more ideas?? :D :D :D

dont quote me on it, but a ducted fan .46, high rpm, will get you close if not it!
a normal .46 will not get you close

Question about what covering to use

I was told that you need to use Ultra Coat or Ora Coat covering...if you used monokote and a pin hole developed it would blow off all the covering...has anyone herd or had this to happen to them? What is your opinion about the Monokote...

I do have a turbine, but one as big as mine would never fit on this thing!!

mine is covered in monocote, I know your not supposed to, but I did it anyway, so far no problems, but Im not running 200 either

Yep, all the parts come in the kit. As you can see from John's pix there aren't too many of them! The all time record for framing one up is 2 1/2 hours! As for gear, there is none, you hand launch it. You set the prop to stop horizontally and just belly it in.

You can cover it with MonoKote if you don't put too much horsepower on it. If you want to go real fast you need to cover it with Ultracoat and seal the seams with epoxy.

For all-around fun power it with a hot 32 like a Webra or OS 32SX. To go 140 mph or so a 46FX with a 9X8 APC is a good choice. To go scary fast (200 mph plus) you will need a racing 40 or a Jett 50. You can use a ducted fan motor but they are a little more trouble due to the rear induction and high nitro requirement. Jett QM 40's or Jett FIRE 50's run on 15%.

With lower power engines standard ball-bearing servos will work fine, but I would suggest JR mid size digitals or super strong coreless servos like JR 8101 or 2721 if you want to fly in the 200 mph plus regime. That's just my opinion, some guys run standard servos and get away with it.

I powered mine with a Jett F.I.R.E (front induction rear exhaust) 50 fitted with a MACS Quiet Pipe. Mine is set up for high-torque, turning a 10 pitch prop at 16,300 on the ground, which puts the airspeed at around 200 mph in level flight. I hope to pick up an EMS-Jomar airspeed data logger at the Toledo show on Saturday and hopefully confirm those figures in the near future. I use JR 8101 servos, an FMA Quantum receiver and a Sanyo 1100 pack placed just ahead of the rear spar.

The airplane is supposed to be hand-launched by someone else holding it by the wingtips. Problem is it's hard to get people to do it more than once, unless they never look down and see the mess of exhaust residue all over their shirt! I solved the problem with a simple mod. Just fill in the empty bay between the fins with light balsa so you can hold the airplane and handlaunch it yourself. I also widened the notch between the elevons a bit and stuck some sandpaper on the top and bottom for a no slip grip.

If you build one you want to balance it right on the front spar. It flies like a dream that way.

Here's some pictures. The top is florescent UltraCote orange and the bottom is white UltraCote with 3 full size stripes of black MonoKote trim sheet. It makes for a real high viz scheme, something you definitely need with this bird!

I've got a video of it I hope to get posted once I get it digitized.

Here's how I hold it for a launch.

Here's an incredibly lucky shot of a launch. There is so much power with the Jett FIRE 50 the airplane leaves my hand like it was fired from a slingshot. In literally half a second it is a hundred feet away. The guy that took the shot said he hit the shutter the instant I lifted my hand to launch. If he had waited until I let go the airplane would have been way out of the frame by the time the shutter went off.

You gotta see the video of this thing!

This engine is a fan engine.

I checked the manuals on their site and there is nothing stated about props.
Does anyone know what prop to use if you want to speed up this little delta to over 200 mph?

Something like a 9-7 or 9-8 or so? I could be way off here...
