Tiger 60 to taildragger

Hello all, I have a Tiger 60 ARF and am starting to assemble. I would like to convert it to a tail dragger how have you done this and where are the parts available.

Thanks

Mike

RE: Tiger 60 to taildragger

I have done it to a Tiger 40. I used a Sullivan tailwheel assembly and a set of formed aluminum mains, both from my LHS. I had to mount a hardwood block inside the fuse forward of the center of gravity for the main gear. The Sullivan assembly mounted to the plywood bottom of the fuse without modification. The taliwheel assembly has a spring linkage to the rudder. Be sure to check the balance.

My Tiger works well as a taildragger. I find that taildraggers are easier to handle on a grass field.

I am doing a Tiger 60 with the Tail dragger option. You need to put in ply doublers for the gear at the front of the plane that goes in front of the wing, and need to put a ply dooubler in the tail where the tail wheel will mount. I am using the Sullivan Tailwheel witha 1 1/4 inch tail wheel. Look for the build thread and I have some pics on it.

Hope this helps alittle

Welcome to the Tiger world.  When you go to that link above, check out the nose cowl mod as well.  It really dresses the Tiger up.  And its very easy.

RE: Tiger 60 to taildragger

Hello!

I just finished a Tiger 60 build, and included a taildragger modification.
I used a Du-Bro fibreglass undercarridge, and and axles - it looks good and is strong! I used a plywood plate just ahead of the wing, with 4
blind nuts to hold it all together.

I fly off of grass, so no tailwheel was used, and I have never had trouble steering on the ground.

Hope this helps!

Graeme

Hey Stevenmax50 - I posted some pictures of the finished plane on the recent "Tiger 60 Build" thread, under kit building - It is covered, with a black fuselage and orange wings, but I can't think up a nice trim scheme. [:o]

Suggestions welcome!

I think my camera washed out the orange...

Ya I remember now.  I think the orange looks cool.  Kinda creamy.
