Default C30 3D performance

Undoubtedly the caliber 30 is a top model, however, i notice that mine suffers a loss of power during specific high demand 3D maneuvers.
I want to know from any of you that perform stationary flips, 45 degree climbing flips, and tick tocks, the following...

How many stationary flips can you do in a row without loosing altitude before you notice the engine revs die significantly?
(i get about 2 -3)

How many 45 degree climbing flips can you do in a row before the engine loses power? ( i get about 2 )

Most importantly, how many tick tocks in a row can you do before having to pull out, due to engine power? (i get, tick-tock-tick =1.5 going over to +45deg to + 135deg pitch angles, 0 deg being level, 90deg being vertical )

This would help me in comparing the 50 upgrade (which arrives tomorrow) because as far as almost all the other maneuvers the caliber has no trouble with a 30 size engine.

thanks in advance............

You can actually do all that with your cali?

Seriously, it is capable of some 3D but not that
much IMO.

I'm just entering the stage of flying inverted and
stationary flips.
Mine won't do 2 stationary flips without bogging down.

But again, i'm just starting this 3D stuff so i still have
to learn some pitch management etc...

The only thing i really do notice is when i mess up and have
to pull out, there isn't much power left.

yes its all possible, but like i said i dont get much out of it doing this kind of stuff, even with good cyclic and collective management before the engine slows.

I have a governor, spinning FRP blades at 1875 and it still drops off, but picks the rpm up again pretty soon. It accelerates vertically inverted just a bit slower than normal. They are a great model, cant wait to put the 50 in it though!

A 30 calss heli will never have the power a 60 or larger size heli has. I had a Rappy 50 and still have a fury and when I got the C30 it was -------well a 30. With the TT39 it has more power but still will not do the stuff that a rappy 50 or any fury will do. The limitations of the smaller heli's can work to your advantage. Power management is now something you need to plan for and work with while flying.

Over here in the UK a few reviewers have noticed the underpowered nauture of the stock heli. Apparently the carb is the cheaper 20c (the 3H is much better) and the stock muffler is restrictive. Slap on a new carb and tuned pipe and it's a different machine.

tried some stationary flips again today.

i'm losing noticible headspeed from the first flip,
and actually, i don't dare to do a second one right after,
because i know the engine isn't going to pull it off.
Whether i give -2° degrees or -8° on inverted, engine
bogs down every time.
And it loses significant altitude while doing so.
Next thing i'll try is to hold inverted hover. Would
be the first time in stationary.

Cyberfyn,
i thought that the 20C carb was the better one?
I know the first kits came with a 3H but i got one
with a 20C...
Is there really that much difference between them?

cyberfun, are you talking about the OS32?

I think most guys are running other engines, ENYAs, WEBRAs, or Thunder Tigers because the OS32 doesn't really have enough grunt IMO.

I have been running the TT39 with great results and absolutely no dramas, except of course for the few high load 3D maneuvers as listed above.

wouter, i assume you are using an OS32. I can get two stationary flips in a row, three and she starts falling, with the TT39 and rotor at 1850 on the governor. my pitch curve in 3d relates to a linear curve from -10,-5,0,5,10 degrees, and i go to max pitch on both ends. If you dont pull as much aft/fore elevator, the power doesnt seem to bleed off as quick.
on that note, I've only ever been able to do 1 forward flip so far.

anyway, today flew the c30 with an OS50 installed - dont think i'll be having any more power problems................... see my review

yep, i run the OS-32.
I know somebody who also put a TT39 in his C30 instead
of the OS and he says the gain in power isn't really that
much more but it sure is welcome.

I guess it's the difference between doing a flip and loose
very little headspeed(TT39) and loosing noticeably more
headspeed(OS-32)...
