Default Caliber upgrades, best servos, etc?

Ok, I have bought a caliber 30 to play around with when I don't feel like flying my trusty old Legend.

Questions that I am sure will generate a lot of response:

What upgrades are worthwhile and where in the US can you find them?
What gyro is going to give good performance without going over the top? (ie, is it necessary to go for the gy601?)

And, since I will use MMS setup, if I want to go with Futaba digital servos, what servos should go where? I thought 9252's on the swash, good choice?

If you have not already guessed, I have not bought new equipment in a while- my radio being the last step-up.

I look forward to hearing the responses to this thread. This is a great board!

The swashplate and mixing arms would be the first upgrade
that i would get. I would also get glass/carbon fiber blades.
You can buy glass blades almost as cheap as woodies.
you can get good grade carbon fiber blades around 54.00USD.
If you buy a swashplate up grade make sure it is for mms.
There is 2 types out there 1 for ems and the other for EMS/MMS.
www.heliproz.com sells the one for EMS/MMS you can set it
up either way.

The 9252 servos are pricey. But if you can afford them thats
great. The 9206/9252 will work great for the elev, pitch, throttle alerion ETC. What ever you do on the servos make sure there dual ball bearing. I would not use anything less.

Gyro: The gy401 futaba is a great gyro for 30---> 50 class
helis. I would use the 9253 futaba servo with this gyro due
to the fact that its made for the setup. But other servos will work.
The gy601 would be a good investment for the future helis that
you might want to buy like the 60----> 90 class helis. So if you
can afford it buy it cause you can use it on bigger helis.

Some online helli shops in the USA. www.heliproz.com www.ronlund.com www.centuryheli.com www.towerhobbies.com www.helihut.com
