1. check for any play in the linkages by turning on the tx and rx and then try to move the tail rotor pitch by hand where the tail rotor linkage joins the tail rotor swash. if there is a lot of play, this is most likely your problem. I know the servo can move slightly on the boom in severe cases.

2. check that the link that runs down the boom from the servo to the tail rotor is as straight as possible, and not twisted or wrapped even slightly around the boom. if it is not straight, the servo tends to fight it which can cause some abrupt tail pitch changes.

3. confirm the gyro is not reversed.

does the gyro gain have any affect on the speed that it tends to drift to the left or right?

please also check the gyro is actually working by powering up both tx and rx, than move the tail with your hand and see if the gyro detects and sends an input to the servo, by watching the servo. it should move to apply opposite pitch to the tail.

hi again, just saw it is a heading hold gyro.

1. you should not use trim at all in heading hold mode on all the gyros i can think of.

2. you should have revolution mixing inhibited on heading hold gyros, this is the same as trim.

3. remember to leave the helicopter stationary for about 2-3 seconds after switching it on every time. this allows the HH gyro to callibrate itself. any movement, will cause the HH gyro to be continually applying a rudder input.

i looked at a website with the CSM 180, i did not think it was heading hold. is "pilot authority" CSM's equivalent term for heading lock, heading hold, tail lock, AVCS etc.. as the other manufacturers call it?
