Hey,Hey.. So im intrieged.... :) This header tank thingie ?? Whats it do ? Does it make the engine run on fumes or something ?? I cant see how fuel can flow through that header tank ? Someone help uz.. I wana work out how it works so I can put one on my RC car... Looks like it draws fumes from the main supply of fuel and mixes with air in the header tank ... then again.. I aint got a clue..lol Someone help

The main tank feeds the header tank through the vent line in the header tank. This way the engine is always sucking fuel through a full tank. Unless of course, you burn the main tank all the way down.

And again another spelling mistake DJSAB intrigued is the correct spelling....
those glass house windows must be very expensive to replace.... sorry I am being chirlish now (not childish before you accuse me of another mistake) :D |

Header tanks on helis serve the very important function of preventing FOAMING of the fuel due to all sorts of out of balance conditions!! They also provide a VISUAL reference as to how much fuel is left. When U see the header tanks fuel line decreasing...TIME TO COME DOWN.

I have a header tank like the one hobbylink1 has posted. The only thing is, it's loose in the bracket. It's like the tank has shrunk. How can I fix it? Thanks, Matt.

Thhe size of UR header tank is not very important! In fact, the smaller the better. 1 Oz size is sufficient.
I make a holder from thin sheet aluminum about 1 to 2 inches wide. Just shape it in a round shape to fit slighhtly undersize of the tank diameter. Allow an extra half inch more each side & drill a hole for a self-tapping screw to hold it in place slightly ABove the Carb needle valve. Too large a header tank only encourages foaming which U R trying to avoid!!! The tank should be snugly held in p[lace...so drill the screw hole in the right place to achieve this. Dr. Gravity. |

I suppose I could do that. Only thing is, I've got the same nice purple anodized bracket. I'm sure the tank fit it snuggly at one time or another. I bought the heli used and the header tank was in some spare parts. Matt

Matt.
My tank on a x-cell was not tight. So what I did was take the bracket off and sand the point that come together down a little. I did it to both side and it did not take much to make it very tight. Hope this helps. Kevin |

I'll try it. Thanks Kevin. Matt
