I just got a used LMH 100 from a good friend. After a couple of cold days of flying I blew a rod in what I think is a .049 Vmax 6. I do have another engine though. Here's the question. What's the best fuel to use in very cold conditions. I'm talking about nitro and oil content as well as the type of oil? Please help, I don't want to blow another engine.

Greg My LMH 100 vmax 6 is actually .061 it ran to hot it to second hand threw it out and bought a new .074 vmax up grade kit.I run all my egines in on a test stand flat out, prop for this is APC 7x3 I believe when there being run in on the chopper the oil is not getting to big end properlly because of the downward faceing motor this my idea anyhow, other's may say different. Fuel mix my own 20% castor oil, 25% nitro, rest methenol. Your case being cold would sugest 10% castor and 10% sinthetic,Powermaster, 25% nitro. Hope this help's.. Bob...

Morgan's Omega is a good ready to use fuel. You can use the Norvel fuels but they're expensive. Concerning nitro content 15-30% is ok. Higher nitro in warmer weather seems to be a good rule of thumb. About oil.....17% or so.....make sure there is castor oil in the mix. It can have synthetic oil too but it should have castor oil as well....not purely synthetic. There are other fuels that work but there are some that will foul the vmax glow plugs. Check out the Lite Machines "frequently asked questions" page. They discuss fuels there.
