Reverse Engine Mount on LMH 116

Is there a special reason why the engine isn't mounted on the other side of the crutch on the 116,117 ?
It would be a lot less messy with that configuration....

You would have to devise some new way to work the throttle over on the other side.
I believe that with the current configuration the spur gear gets "pulled" into a tighter mesh with the main gear under load, you might have some kind of drive problem the other way around.
