Default Best brushles setup for Corona?

Hi, my name is Steve. I have acquired a new in box bare bones Carona, which I'm looking to upgrade to a brushless setup. I'm looking for the bnest possible motor and ESC setup, what can any of you guys advise? I/m looking at the following: HACKER C40-12T with CC Phoenix 45 or MEGA 16/15/4 with Phoenix 45 controller. I know of the Astro dedicated system, however have seen no reviews on this system. Naturally I want the best as well as the best bang for my buck. The HACKER motors are however very expensive.
Can anyone give me some valuable advice?
Thanking you ,in advance.
Steve

I have 2 corona 120's, both are set up the same, with a MEGA 16/15/3 Motor Phoenix 35 Speed control and 11.1volt, 2100 mAh Lipoly battery pack. Works Fine for Me...........

I got my Motor & speedcontrol combo at; http://www.dynamoelectrics.com/Searc...?CategoryID=54

Thanks so much for your imput. I was looking at the Mega combo as well as the HACKER C40-12T with Phoenix 45, this package is double the price. unfortunately. I might just decide to go with the Mega combo due to price factor.
Question, due you use a heat sink with your Mega?

using lipo setup, you don't need Heat sink due to light weight. if you want to run heavier setup though, I would recommend one, especially in warmer climate

Thanks.
Although my mind is not 100% made up, I am now leading toward the Mega 16/15/3 with CC Phoenix 45. It has become a value for money factor, as the Hacker C40-12T option, is TWICE the price. My only concern with the Mega setup, is insufficient power. Reading various online reports on the Mega setup, the conclusion is the power is the same as the stock brushed motor. I intend discarding the canopy and using one of drthdrk's Bell 222 bodies. So if there is onyone out there, using the Mega 16/15/3 on the Corona with anyone of drthdrks bodies, I'd like to hear from you. I know I wouldn't be dissapointed with the very expensive Hacker setup, but unfortunately it breaks my bank at the moment. Perhaps it's worth my while just to wait till I CAN afford the Hacker.
Any advise or comments regarding a good reliable brushless setup....I would love to hear from you.
Thanking you in advance

if you want more power, consider getting the 16/25/3 and using 18 pinion. (it is 1700kv motor) I am happy with it and cost 85 bucks at dynamoelectrics.com, same as 16/15/3. next upgrade would be kontronics 400/28 with 10 pinion.

Thanks askman

I'm still a complete newbie to electric power and all the information I'm getting from everyone is overwhelming to say the least. It's a huge learning curve for me and I have discovered that electric power is not as simple and str8 forward as advertised. All this being said, I have made a decision to give it a try and want to get the best possible "affordable" setup for my Corona.
OK so I got the VERY BASIC "kmowlege" on brushless motors and controllers, however still have one area where I know nothing at all...WHAT are the "PINIONS" what do I look out for ?

Thanks in advance

A pinion is the small gear that goes on the motor shaft. I use a 9T (9 tooth) on my mege 16/15/3.

Thanks so much for enlightning me regarding the pinion. That brings me to yet another question: how does one know which pinion to go for, when using any particular motor?. or are there factory recommendations. Lets say you used another pinion other than 9 for the Mega 16/15/3, what difference would it actually make.
Sorry for all these questions, but I am trying to understand as much as I can,
Thanking you in advance

Steve

the trick is to have about 2000 rpm head rotor speed. the main gear is 102 tooth. motor pinion gear with give different ratios. for example, 9 tooth pinion with give about 11.3:1 ratio. mega 16/15/3 motor have 3000kv. that is 3000 rpm per volt. this motor can handle about 250watt of power. we know this combo works fairly well, so we can use this to compare different motor.

so what you want is motor that can handle at least 250watt. motor pinion gear depends upon the kv of motor if you have 1500kv motor, you need about 18tooth pinion. if you have 2400 kv motor, you need about 12 pinion. the minimum gear size available is 9 tooth. also anything over 22 tooth is hard to find as well.
