Default Atomic Force capacitors

Seems that my Atomic Force is lost in the mail (thanks Tower for using the USPS). I'm wondering if the motor has capacitors already installed. I'd prefer to have them on hand if the motor shows up.

Every AF I have owned came with the capacitors when I got it. See: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXW934&P=7
Good Luck with USPS!

Ok guys, capacitors? mine came with two ceramic caps and a diode, I understand why I need the diode, but why should I install the capacitors?? (i was going to tell you what kind of a motor I have but I always forget ) all I know that it's a Speed PRO by Trinity it also said Kobal on the package
ok ok so I'm still learning, motor, batteries etc. it's funny because I design electronic boards for living

The capacitors provde filtering to supress RF noise being generated by the brushed motor. This allows the rcvr to operate in a cleaner RF environment without those nasty hits that play havoc with radio transmissions. Don't leave the heliport without 'em!

mmmm.... maybe that will explain the strange gyro behavior!
thanx for educating me oh and btw, do I just install them between + and - on the motor (I would think so )
Thanks!

They go from "+" to the motor case (ground) and from "-" to the motor case (ground again). The AF should have detailed instructions with it when you get it.

I heard that you are not suppose to use the caps because they are already installed on the speed controller. Let me know if this is true. I have the AF motor with the Pegasus 35H speed controller. Who is using the caps and how many of them with this setup?

Thanks,

Matt

Use the capacitors on the motor. Whoever told you that they are in the ESC must have gone to Matchbook U. for the Electrically Challenged. The caps have to be present at the source of the RF noise..........i.e. - the brushed motor (between each terminal + & - and the metal motor case).. It's a filter/noise trap ckt. designed to keep the arcing that goes on in a brushed motor from interfering with your rcvr. One other simple but overly expensive solution is to get a BL motor (Hacker, etc.) and forget the capacitors and changing brushes forever (He, He...... $$$$$$$$$).

Holy S**T!!! my tail is fine now!!! I can't believe it! that's all that was wrong, the RF was playing bad tricks on the gyro, I would of never figured this out if I didn't look here! thanks guys!

Another successful mission for Dudley Doright, ace "tron" chaser. Glad it helped. I know it's hard to beat that feeling of beating the gremlins.

OK, what about that big capacitor thingy that comes with the speed control (Pegasus 35) that is to be soldered between the wires going in? Is this an additional capacitor? Should I just read the instructions?

Instuctions will work. I haven't got a Castle Creations ESC in my current fleet but there are lots of guys here that do. BTW the customer support at Castle Creations is superb if you really get strung out. Ask for Patrick. He's the head knocker and really knows the products he designs and produces. www.castlecreations.com
and he's in the heartland(KS) so the turnaround is super when compared to the Fadderland(DE).

I am from Kansas myself...truly is God's country
I have a Pixie 20ESC in my parkflyer and have found great service from Castle (except when they inadvertantly kept my Deans connectors on a repair). I'll ring them up if I have problems. Thanks again Boyd.
This thing will be in the air soon!
