I hope to get on here and say "it flew today"!!!!!!!!!!!
but today was a good learning curve, did go through around 2 tanks of gas,, driving it around the parking lot, before a tail boom strike stripped the tail rotor servo and bent the boom......but I really got to hone those skills for a minute or 2,, had it about 2 feet off the ground and I think I was in control for several seconds, and I had been up for 24 hours and was exhausted but pumped too! Hey Darth, when I learn to fly I'll be wanting one of those huges canopys .........where is everybody anyways..nobody posting for days..........Rog

yeah 10k when I bought it the guy said it had all metal gears but only the motor gear is metal on the one I took apart, I dont know what the heck the tail rotor hit that made the servo strip, but I was having fun except when it got a little too close to me..Rog

I was flying around the back yard the other night when POW the tree jumped out and smacked my Corona. Anyway, It was about 38° out and I broke a blade and stripped all three gear sets. How the tail gearset stripped is beyond me.

Anyway, how many of you guys have used those metal gearsets from servo city? What happens to your servo when the trees reach out and smack your machine when you use the metal gearsets?

Yeah what is the pro & con of metal gears, so they dont break on impact or strip but, does the servo motor survive many of those hits? , is it worth the extra $ ?........Rog

I think The stripping of the gears prolong the life of the servo. metal gear will wear out the servo motor quicker. JMOP.

hey guys

there is still a plastic gear in the gear set if the hit is big enough I'm sure it would strip before damaging the motor. sorry I've been out of pocket, but I love the info we trade here..
