Default Help!!!!!!!!!! Gyro

Hi,

I am using a Telebee 703 gyro in my corona and it was controlling a robbe FS 50 NANO servo and worked pretty good.

Now the robbe servo locked up, so I put a new hitec HS-81 servo in its place.
Now I cannot get the tail to stop wagging no matter how low I set the gain.

My question is: Is the Hitec HS-81 a higher speed servo because the telebee 703 is for slow speed servos only so I am thinking that this may be where my wagging is coming from due to a faster servo.

Please help!

Default Help!!!!!!!!!! Gyro

I can't tell you anything about the Telebee 703 since I run a Futaba 401, which works great with the HS-81 by the way.

I assume you are talking about tail wagging durring hover with at a fixed throttle position...

I would ask if your heli is fairly vibration free. From my very limited exerience vibration in my system has always played hell with the gyro, requiring very low gains. The smoother the setup the higher I could run the gain without any tailwagging. The other thing a few years with the LMH has tought me is the faster the servo response, the higher I could set my gain and the better the gyro would perform. From a controls standpoint, this makes quite a bit of sence. I dont know anything about how the Telebee operates, but it seems counter intuitive to me that a faster servo would produce more tail wagging for you.

It may be possible that the Telebee's gain cannot be set low enough. In this case a poor solution would be to reduce the servo arm radius, lessening your control throws. While this would reduce the gyro's authority over the tail rotor, it would obviously also limit your maximum tail rotor pitch.

Sorry I can not offer any advice about the Telebee. I can tell you the HS-81 can be used as tail servo with a gyro very effectively, but that is probably not worth much to you

for what it is worth,
Spiro
